Washington Capitals fans have a new place to catch Alex Ovechkin and the rest of the team this season, with Monumental Sports Network programming now available through DAZN.
That matters most for local viewers, who can use the streaming service to watch Caps games without a traditional cable subscription. The setup arrives as Ovechkin enters his 22nd season in D.C., with the NHL’s all-time goals leader still the focal point every time Washington takes the ice.
DAZN, pronounced da-zone, is a sports streaming service that offers live and on-demand events in more than 200 countries and territories. It first built its name around combat sports, especially boxing, MMA and pay-per-view fight nights, but its reach has grown well beyond that. In 2026, DAZN added regional streaming rights for several NBA and NHL teams, including the Wizards, Cavs, Knicks, Pacers, Timberwolves, Spurs, Nets and Pistons, along with the Capitals, Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Sabres and Kings.
The appeal is simple: fans can stream through the DAZN app on smart TVs, phones, tablets, computers and connected devices, which makes it easier to follow live sports at home or while out and about.
For Washington-area customers, the Monumental+ on DAZN package comes in two options.
The Annual Pass costs $179.99 per year and includes every locally produced Caps, Wizards and Mystics game live and on demand, plus pregame and postgame shows and other programming. It also allows streaming on up to three devices in one location, download access for watching on the go, and other DAZN content at no extra charge, including international soccer, boxing and more.
The Monthly Flex Pass is priced at $19.99 per month and includes the same locally produced Caps, Wizards and Mystics coverage, along with pregame and postgame shows and other programming. That plan allows streaming on one device in one location, plus download access and the same free additional DAZN content.
Signing up is straightforward. Fans can go to the DAZN website or open the app, choose their location if prompted, select a plan, create an account with a name, email address and password, then enter payment information.
DAZN accepts several payment methods, which may include credit card, debit card, PayPal or gift code, depending on location and how the user signs up. Before confirming, customers are told to review the plan, price, billing terms and any pay-per-view purchases.
Once that’s done, streaming begins.

Capitals Face A Costly Dylan Larkin Question They Can't Ignore
A hypothetical Dylan Larkin deal has put Washingtons center depth back under the microscope, and it is easy to see why. Any discussion of adding a player of that caliber naturally leads to the same question for the Capitals: what would it mean for the roster they would have to give up to get him, and how much would the move alter the balance they have tried to build down the middle?
The idea is not a confirmed transaction, just a trade framework being weighed for fit and value, but it still lands in a meaningful place for Washington. The Capitals would have to decide whether chasing a star center is worth disrupting the structure they rely on, especially with other priorities on the table and the cost of doing business in a deal like this expected to be steep. Capitals Made A Tough Goalie Bet And Now Fans Will Judge It
Washington had a decision to make in net coming out of camp, and it went with the more established answer behind Logan Thompson. The Capitals chose to keep Charlie Lindgren as their backup rather than carry three goaltenders, a call that left Clay Stevenson on the outside after he had spent time in both the AHL and NHL last season and was part of the teams training camp.
Spencer Carbery said he had mixed feelings about losing Stevenson, but he also made clear the organization believes Lindgren can rebound after a difficult previous season. Still, the move leaves Washington opening itself up to immediate judgment, because every goalie decision gets magnified once a young player is exposed and another team is ready to take a look. Declan Chisholm Faces A Devils Roster Squeeze He Must Survive
Declan Chisholms path back into an NHL lineup has been shaped as much by timing as by performance. After appearing in 26 games for the Capitals last season and finishing with one goal and six assists, the defenseman landed with New Jersey and cracked the Devils opening night roster for 2026-27, where he is slated to open on the third pairing.
The opportunity, though, comes with a familiar sense of uncertainty. Chisholm is there because the Devils needed bodies on the blue line, and roster movement could quickly become part of the story once the injured defensemen return and New Jersey gets closer to full health. For now, he has a chance to show he belongs, even if the margin for staying put may be thin. [Read more 🡒]
