Wake Forests Womens Golf Pipeline Just Delivered Another Huge Milestone

Rachel Kuehn, a star from Wake Forest, is set to make her mark on the LPGA Tour following a successful climb through collegiate and developmental circuits.

Rachel Kuehn is headed to the LPGA Tour, and the move puts one of Wake Forest’s most decorated players on golf’s biggest stage.

Kuehn’s path there has been built on years of work, and she said that grind is what makes this moment feel so meaningful. “This means everything,” Kuehn said, an Asheville native who was part of Wake Forest’s 2023 national championship team.

“It’s what I’ve worked my entire life for. All the hours that nobody sees and the decisions you make when no one’s watching have led me to here.”

After finishing her Wake Forest career with eight victories, Kuehn spent 2023 and ’24 on the Epson Tour, preparing for the next step in her game. She turned that opportunity into a breakthrough, and now the 25-year-old will be a rookie on the LPGA Tour next season.

Kuehn’s run at Wake Forest included eight wins, the third-best total in school history. She played for Kim Lewellen at Wake Forest and was one of the top players in the country throughout her college career.

Lewellen said, “We couldn’t be prouder of Rachel Kuehn, being one of the best players to walk out of Wake Forest University. We look forward to cheering for her on the LPGA Tour.

Her game, personality and professionalism will quickly make her a favorite out there.”

Kuehn was a two-time ACC women’s golfer of the year in 2022 and ’23 and was the ACC Women’s Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2019. Her amateur résumé also included winning the 2019 North Carolina Women’s Amateur.

Now she gets to line up against a new group of players. Former Wake Forest golfers on tour are Jennifer Kupcho, Carolina Lopez-Chacarra, Mimi Rhodes and Lauren Walsh.

Kuehn said she’s eager for the challenge ahead. “I’m really excited,” Kuehn said. “I want to compete against the best of the best, and I can’t wait for next year.”

Wake Forest Is Giving Fans A Real Reason To Demand Respect

Wake Forest has spent the first month of the season building a rsum that looks better than the attention it has gotten. The Demon Deacons are 4-1, they pushed a top-ranked opponent in a close loss, and they already have a road win over a ranked team. Add in the kind of offensive numbers and conference blowout that usually get a program noticed, and it is easy to see why there is a growing sense around Winston-Salem that the respect has not caught up with the results.

The gap is even harder to ignore because the Deacons have not exactly been perfect in other areas, with discipline issues still part of the conversation. Still, teams that play a quality schedule, beat ranked competition away from home, and keep stacking wins generally earn a spot in the Top 25 conversation. Wake Forest has done enough to make people look twice, and now the question is how long it can keep performing this way before the national polls finally have to acknowledge it. [Read more 🡒]

NC States Wake Forest Rivalry Test Just Got A Tougher Feel

It will be the 119th meeting between the Demon Deacons and Wolfpack, with NC State holding the edge in the all-time series. Wake Forest heads into it coming off a strong win against Stanford, while the Wolfpack sit at 3-2, giving this one a little more bite than a typical early-October conference date. [Read more 🡒]

Wake Forests womens soccer team gave Spry Stadium a result worth circling, beating NC State 3-1 in a matchup that carried the feel of more than just another conference night. The win stood out not only because it came against a familiar rival, but because it gave the Demon Deacons a clear, authoritative answer on their home field.

For a program looking to keep building momentum, results like this can matter beyond the standings. NC State always brings extra edge to the meeting, and Wake Forest made sure this one belonged to the home side, leaving the Demon Deacons with a win that should resonate the next time these teams see each other.
