Boston College Aims to Break Losing Streak Against Wake Forest in Delayed Game

In a weather-delayed showdown, Boston College aims to snap their losing streak against a resilient Wake Forest team hungry for redemption.

Boston College's season has hit a rough patch, with the Eagles struggling to find their footing in 2026. They've managed just two wins against twelve losses since the new year began.

As they gear up to face Wake Forest on Wednesday evening in Chestnut Hill, Mass., they'll be looking to snap an eight-game losing streak. This matchup was initially set for Tuesday but got pushed due to bad weather.

The Eagles (9-18, 2-12 ACC) find themselves at the bottom of the ACC in several offensive metrics. They're averaging 67.7 points per game, shooting 40.8% from the field, and hitting only 30.3% of their three-point attempts. Their recent game against SMU saw them shoot a mere 33.3% (23 of 69) from the floor, ultimately falling 94-70 after being outscored 54-34 in the second half.

Head coach Earl Grant noted, "I thought their zone at the start of the second half stymied us. We usually get excited when we see a zone, but we didn't against SMU. We didn't probe it good enough."

The absence of Donald Hand Jr. (leg) against SMU was felt, marking his third consecutive missed game. Hand has been a crucial part of the team, averaging 13.8 points, just behind Fred Payne's 15.4.

On the other side, Wake Forest (14-13, 5-9) is coming off a tough 82-63 loss at Virginia Tech, which halted their three-game winning streak. Juke Harris led the Demon Deacons with 16 points in that game and has been a consistent performer, scoring in double figures in all 27 games this season. He ranks third in the ACC with 21.1 points per game.

Wake Forest struggles with rebounding, sitting last in the ACC with 32.8 boards per game. Coach Steve Forbes reflected, "I thought we were doing a good job rebounding the ball on the glass.

Then I think they got four offensive rebounds in the last three possessions of the first half. They kind of smelled blood in the water, and then they got 13 offensive rebounds.

They had great balance and six guys in double figures in scoring. I thought they came up with the majority of the 50-50 balls that led to easy baskets."

Despite their challenges, Boston College has found some success at home, securing eight of their nine wins there. Meanwhile, Wake Forest has struggled on the road, holding a 2-5 record.

As both teams look to rebound from recent setbacks, this game promises to be a pivotal moment in their seasons.
