James Franklin’s pull in Philadelphia has already paid off once for Virginia Tech, and now another former Penn State defender is following that same path. Cornerback Kenny Woseley Jr., a three-star recruit in the 2024 class, transferred to Virginia Tech after two seasons with the Nittany Lions and is expected to be part of the Hokies’ defense this fall in Blacksburg.
Woseley came out of high school as a top-15 player in Pennsylvania and drew double-digit scholarship offers before picking Penn State over Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Duke, Oregon, Pitsburgh, Stanford, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, and others.
His first year at Penn State was a redshirt season, but he did get on the field in four games - against Kent State, Washington, at Purdue, and Maryland. In those appearances, Woseley totaled five tackles, played 51 defensive snaps, and allowed just one reception.
His role shifted in a big way the following season. Woseley logged 238 defensive snaps in 2025, with 147 of them coming at nickel, only 11 at outside cornerback, and 44 at free safety. He also took part on all four special teams units.
Before college, Woseley was a two-year captain at Imhotep and helped power the program to a perfect 15-0 record and a 5A Pennsylvania State Championship as a senior.
Virginia Tech landed him after official visits to Blacksburg and Clemson. Like Isaiah Brown-Murray, who transferred into Virginia Tech last season, Woseley gives the Hokies added versatility in the secondary with experience outside and in the slot as Franklin works to rebuild the program after taking over for Brent Pry at the end of last season.
