Tony Elliotts Weekly Show Just Became More Than A Routine Stop

Get the inside scoop on UVA sports as Kam Robinson brings his resilience and achievements to a newly revamped Coach's Corner with Tony Elliott this Tuesday.

Kam Robinson is set to be the featured guest on Tuesday’s edition of Coach’s Corner with Tony Elliott, as UVA’s weekly radio show returns to the airwaves ahead of Friday night’s ACC matchup with Duke.

The show will run from 7-8 p.m. at Dairy Market, located at 946 Grady Ave. in Charlottesville. John Freeman, the “Voice of the Cavaliers,” will host the program.

Robinson’s appearance comes after a 2025 season that was cut short by season-ending surgery. He got back on the field for Virginia in the Cavaliers’ 59-3 win over Norfolk State on Sept. 11 earlier this year. Last season, Robinson drew the second-most votes for ACC Defensive Player of the Year and landed on the Butkus Award and Nagurski Trophy 2026 preseason watch lists.

Virginia also announced a change to the format of Coach’s Corner beginning Monday, Nov. 2. From that point on, the show will be video-recorded in a new studio setting for the rest of the football season and through the 2026-27 men’s basketball season.

Fans will still be able to hear the program on the Virginia Sports Radio Network at 7 p.m. on the night of each show, and each episode will also be posted at 7 p.m. on the day it is recorded on the official Virginia Cavaliers Facebook page and the VirginiaSportsTV YouTube channel. The shows will continue to feature head coaches Tony Elliott and Ryan Odom.

Dairy Market remains the presenting sponsor for both shows, and its partnership with Virginia Athletics will continue through the football and basketball seasons. The Charlottesville venue will also host UVA student-athletes for special appearances in 2027.

The final in-person Coach’s Corner show from Dairy Market is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 27.

After that, Elliott will appear on Monday, Nov. 2, Nov.

9, Nov. 16 and Nov. 23.

This season’s guest lineup has also included Maddox Marcellus on Aug. 25, Xavier Brown on Sept.

1, Ethan Minter on Sept. 8, Fisher Camac on Sept.

15, Will Bettridge on Sept. 22, Jekail Middlebrook on Sept.

29, Omillio Agard on Oct. 6 and Makilan Thomas on Oct. 13.

Duke's Ground Game Could Decide A Crucial ACC Bounce-Back Spot

After both teams stumbled in Week 7, the Week 8 matchup between Duke and Virginia suddenly carries a little more weight in the ACC race. For the Cavaliers, the concern starts with how well Duke can lean on its most reliable offensive piece, because the Blue Devils have built a balanced attack around one player who drives production on the ground and through the air.

Virginias defense has enough issues already, but the run game has been a particularly vulnerable spot and the numbers point to real trouble if that trend continues. Duke comes in with the stronger offensive profile, so this may come down to whether the Cavaliers can hold up at the line of scrimmage long enough to keep the game from tilting toward a familiar script. Virginia Has A Real Chance To Shake Up Duke In Prime Time

Virginia gets a primetime chance to measure itself against Duke again, this time at Scott Stadium after the two programs met in the 2025 ACC Championship Game. The rematch comes with a different feel from the earlier meeting, because Duke has not looked like the same team after its strong start and has been trying to piece together a new identity after losing a huge chunk of last years roster.

For Virginia, the appeal is obvious: this is the kind of stage where a home crowd can matter and where a confident offense can put pressure on a defense that has had trouble creating takeaways. The Cavaliers have shown an ability to force mistakes, and Dukes recent slide raises the kind of questions that make a late-night ACC matchup feel bigger than a regular-season game. [Read more 🡒]

Virginia Faces A Bowl Pressure Test It Hasn't Solved All Season

Virginias next chance to steady its season comes Halloween afternoon, when the Cavaliers head to Wake Forest with bowl eligibility still in play and a first road win still out of reach. The ACC has set the game for Oct. 31, with kickoff scheduled for 3:45 p.m. and television coverage on ESPN or ESPN2, giving Tony Elliotts team a spotlight stage for a matchup that carries plenty of weight in the ACC picture.

Wake Forest enters the game ranked 17th in the AP poll and riding a strong stretch after its bye week, which only raises the degree of difficulty for a Virginia team that has spent much of the fall searching for consistency away from home. The Cavaliers do have the incentive of a postseason berth to chase, but this trip also doubles as a test of whether they can finally solve the road problems that have lingered all season.
