Fan Crosses Line With Disgusting Attack On ACC Star

Florida Bar launches an investigation into troubling allegations involving a staff member's racist messages directed at Miami's star defender, putting a spotlight on the ongoing issue of racism in college sports.

The Florida Bar has placed a staffer on administrative leave while it investigates messages sent to Miami Hurricanes defensive end Damon Wilson II after Miami’s 43-35 double-overtime win over Florida State last Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium.

Wilson II posted alleged racist remarks from a Tallahassee fan through Instagram direct messages, bringing the matter into public view after the rivalry game.

The account, @aye_its_kade951, is apparently owned by Kade McLendon. He initially attended Daytona State College, then transferred to Florida State University in January of 2022.

The following year, McLendon finished with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, according to LinkedIn. Upon graduating, he has been working as a Computer Technician at The Florida Bar, the organization for all lawyers licensed by the Supreme Court of Florida to practice law in the state.

“The Florida Bar is aware of the messages that were possibly sent from an employee’s social media account that contained inappropriate content and we have started an internal investigation into the matter.”

A second statement followed:

“The Florida Bar has put the employee Kate McLendon on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing,” it said. “The messages in question are not only ethically and morally reprehensible, but also violate our internal social media policy for employees. As the internal investigation continues, we are committed to enforcing our policies and procedures while making sure that any due process rights are protected.”

Wilson II is one of several college athletes dealing with racist messages on social media, and the issue has become increasingly visible in today’s NIL and transfer portal era, where players are often treated more like professionals than student-athletes.

On the field, Miami’s rivalry win featured a wild finish. In the second overtime, with Florida State needing a touchdown and a two-point conversion, Seminoles fifth-year quarterback Ashton Daniels hit Micahi Danzy on a 36-yard Hail Mary. The play was wiped away, though, after left tackle Xavier Chaplin was flagged for holding on Wilson II.

Wilson II transferred to Coral Gables from Missouri in the spring and has 3.5 sacks this season, which puts him among the Hurricanes’ sack leaders.

Miami is set to face Pitt this Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 p.m. E.T. and the game set to air on ESPN. The process involving McLendon remains ongoing.

Michigan Fans Have A New Reason To Watch Trey McKenney

Virginias backcourt picture is drawing attention heading into next season, with Chance Mallory in line to become a much bigger part of the Cavaliers offense after a promising freshman year. The projection game around college basketball is already starting to center on players like Mallory, whose first season offered a clear glimpse of what he can do as a scorer, rebounder and distributor.

Mallorys rise matters because Virginia needs someone to organize the offense and help set the tone for a group that will be leaning on development as much as experience. The expectations around him are building for the 2026-27 season, and the questions now are less about whether he belongs in the conversation than how far his role can expand once the Cavaliers put the ball in his hands more often. Virginia Faces A Friday Night Test That Could Define Its Season

Virginia heads into Friday night with a chance to turn a shaky season into something more stable, and the setting at home only adds to the pressure on Duke. The Cavaliers are unbeaten at home this year, while the Blue Devils arrive after dropping two straight following a strong opening stretch. Both teams need momentum, but Virginia has the clearer opportunity to make the night feel like a statement if it can control the game early.

A big part of that comes down to how Virginia handles Dukes ground attack and whether its own run game can answer back. The Cavaliers know the Blue Devils can lean on their best runner to settle things down, so the task is as much about discipline as it is tackling. If Virginia can create balance on offense and keep Duke from dictating the pace, Friday night could tilt in a direction that says a lot about where the rest of the season is headed. [Read more 🡒]

Virginia Found A Late Spark At The Perfect Time

Virginia kept itself alive late at Klckner Stadium, salvaging a 1-1 draw with Clemson after a game that looked headed the other way for most of the afternoon. Reagan Thompson put the Tigers in front in the 44th minute, and the Cavaliers had to chase the match from there before finally finding the breakthrough deep into stoppage time.

Virginia head coach Steve Swanson pointed to a better second-half showing and the value of securing a point in a tight conference battle. The finish offered a timely lift for a group that needed some late edge, and it gave the Cavaliers a reminder that even when the clock gets uncomfortably short, there is still a chance to change the story.
