When Beau Pribula tuned into the Gator Bowl, he was all in for his Missouri teammates, cheering them on with the kind of loyalty you’d expect from a dedicated Tiger. Little did he know, just weeks later, he’d find himself on the roster of the very team that defeated Missouri - the Virginia Cavaliers.
Pribula, who spent most of the season as Mizzou's starting quarterback, had to sit out a few games due to injuries. By the end of the season, he made the decision to transfer, opting out of the bowl game and entering the transfer portal. Now, as spring practice kicks off, he’s in a head-to-head competition with fellow transfer Eli Holstein, who made his way from Pitt, for the starting quarterback position at UVA.
Reflecting on the unexpected turn of events, Pribula shared, “It was weird watching the bowl game and then ending up on the other team’s roster. I was rooting for Missouri because all my friends are there. So it’s funny in hindsight.”
This shift in Pribula’s journey highlights the ever-evolving landscape of college football, where players navigate new opportunities and challenges, bringing their talents and experiences to fresh teams and environments. As the battle for UVA’s starting job heats up, both Pribula and Holstein are set to bring their best to the field, making this spring practice a must-watch for Cavaliers fans.
