Shock TV Rating Shows Where Raiders Stand

In a record-breaking showdown, the Kansas City Chiefs' thrilling comeback victory over the Las Vegas Raiders captivates millions and sets a new benchmark for NFL viewership on CBS.

The Chiefs’ Week 4 win over the Raiders didn’t just move the AFC West standings around - it also drew a massive television audience.

CBS Sports said the Kansas City-Las Vegas matchup averaged 28.448 million viewers, making it the most-watched NFL game of the season so far and the highest-rated Week 4 game ever on any network. Through the first month of the season, NFL on CBS broadcasts are averaging 19.883 million viewers, up 9% from last season, which had already set a record for the network.

On the field, Kansas City edged Las Vegas 19-17 on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026, at Allegiant Stadium in a game that stayed tight into the final second. The Raiders took a lead into halftime, then held the Chiefs to just 18 yards in the third quarter before Kenneth Walker III flipped the game with a 76-yard run to close the period. Two plays later, Patrick Mahomes hit Tyquan Thornton for an eight-yard touchdown.

Las Vegas answered with a field goal and then forced a three-and-out, but Kansas City reclaimed the edge at 19-17 and struck again after Walker’s second big moment of the night. The Raiders fumbled the kickoff return, and Walker scored one play later.

The Raiders kept fighting, scoring a touchdown and adding the two-point conversion to pull it close again. They forced another three-and-out and gave Kirk Cousins a final chance to win or tie, but he threw an interception with one second left to seal the Chiefs’ victory.

Kansas City moved to 4-0 and heads into its bye week atop the division. Las Vegas fell to 2-1 and remains second in the AFC West. The teams will meet again in the final week of the regular season.
