The Vegas Golden Knights battled hard but came up just short in a 4-3 overtime thriller against the Edmonton Oilers at T-Mobile Arena. Despite the loss, the Knights snagged a valuable point in the standings.
Game Breakdown
The Oilers struck first with Matt Savoie lighting the lamp midway through the opening period. But Vegas wasn't about to let them run away with it. Mark Stone answered back early in the second, scooping up a loose puck and deftly flipping a backhander to even the score.
The back-and-forth action continued as Connor McDavid quickly reclaimed the lead for Edmonton. Stone, showing his knack for clutch plays, found the net again later in the period, sneaking a backhand past Connor Ingram to tie things up once more. However, Zach Hyman's timely goal put the Oilers ahead 3-2 heading into the third.
Vegas kept their heads up, and Ivan Barbashev capitalized on a rebound from Pavel Dorofeyev's rush, knotting the game at three and pushing it into overtime. It was Evan Bouchard who ultimately sealed the deal for Edmonton, netting the game-winner with less than two minutes remaining in OT.
