The Golden Knights are rolling out a 23-player rookie camp roster, and the first real test for that group comes quickly in San Jose.
General manager Kelly McCrimmon announced Tuesday that Vegas will open Rookie Camp on Friday, Sept. 11, with the club’s first practice set for 12:45 p.m. PT at City National Arena in Las Vegas. From there, the prospects head to the annual Rookie Faceoff, which runs Sept. 12-15 at Tech CU Arena and Sharks Ice at San Jose.
Vegas will be part of a six-team field that also includes the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks and Utah Mammoth. The Golden Knights open the event Saturday, Sept. 12, against Utah at 3 p.m.
PT, then face Colorado on Sunday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. PT.
Both games will be streamed live on KnightTime+, with Daren Millard and Henderson Silver Knights play-by-play commentator Brian McCormack on the call. The broadcasts will also include live special guests.
The roster gives Vegas a look at a wide mix of young talent: 13 forwards, seven defensemen and three goaltenders. Among the forwards invited are Mathieu Cataford, Trevor Connelly, Jordan Gustafson, Jackson Hallum, Ben Hemmerling, Tuomas Uronen and Sloan Stanick.
Cataford will wear No. 8, Connelly No.
24, Uronen No. 37, Gustafson No. 38 and Hallum No.
The blue line group features Viliam Kmec, Will McLaughlin, Bronson Ride, Conor Walton, Vann Williamson and Samuel Mayer. In net, the Golden Knights will bring Cameron Whitehead, Matthew Minchak and Pavel Moysevich.
