The Golden Knights are heading into 2026-27 with enough firepower to make a few bold bets feel less wild than they sound. The safest one? Jack Eichel finally cracking the 100-point mark.
Vegas has never had a 100-point player, and Eichel got as close as anyone has in 2024-25 with 94. This time, the setup looks even better.
He’s still the driver of the offense, he’s got Mitch Marner and Mark Stone alongside him, and the power play should keep feeding him chances to pile up assists. He also ought to see more than one power play goal, since he’s carrying the primary shooting load.
Add two extra games in an 84-game season, and the path to 100 starts to look real.
The one thing that could wreck it is health. Eichel has to stay on the ice for this to happen, and the warning here is clear: no hits, no neck problems, no chaos.
Another number to watch belongs to Tomas Hertl. He’s in position to take back the single-season power play goals record after Pavel Dorofeyev set it last season and then was traded to the New York Rangers for a few draft picks because he was getting paid $11 million per year. Hertl needs 21 to reclaim the mark, which is a hefty ask, but the opportunity is there.
He’s built for the job, too. His 6-foot-3 frame makes him a natural nuisance in front of the net, and that kind of presence can turn rebounds into goals. With Shea Theodore getting looks on the top power-play unit, the setup should create some ugly, productive traffic around the crease.
The biggest team-level call is that Vegas will win one playoff round. There are reasons to hesitate.
Ryan Craig is a new head coach, and he’ll be managing a group full of established veterans. The goaltending also looked rough in preseason, which is not exactly the kind of preview that inspires confidence.
Still, the Pacific Division doesn’t look intimidating. Half the division is in a rebuild, and the San Jose Sharks might make it - might, depending on whether they actually take the next step.
That leaves plenty of room for the Golden Knights to get back in, make the playoffs, and win a round. The goaltending could be the thing that drags them down, especially if injuries pile up, but the roster still has a lot going for it: forwards who can score and defensemen who can move the puck.
