The Golden Knights head into Tuesday night with a chance to steady themselves, and they’ll do it with a rookie making noise up front. Trevor Connelly, only 20, has already scored four goals and is tracking toward 26 this season. That kind of start has given Vegas a new name to watch while the team tries to get back on its feet against Ottawa.
Vegas hosts the Senators at 7 p.m. PT at T-Mobile Arena after Saturday’s 2-1 overtime loss to Columbus. Tomas Hertl scored for the Knights in that one, with Connelly and Braeden Bowman collecting assists, before Adam Fantilli finished it in overtime.
Ottawa arrives with plenty of offense of its own. The Senators broke out for seven goals in a 7-4 win over the Rangers, their most productive game of the season.
The Knights will lean on their established stars, and Jack Eichel has done plenty of damage against Ottawa over the years. He leads Vegas with 19 points, including six goals and 13 assists, and has scored 15 goals in 25 career games against the Senators. In his last eight games against Ottawa, he has five goals and five assists.
Mark Stone has also been a factor in this matchup. He has eight goals and 15 points this season, and he has six points in his last four games against the Senators.
Connelly’s early production is part of the story, too. Four goals has him tied for the rookie lead, and while a 26-goal pace is a long way from being locked in, it’s the kind of number that jumps off the page this early in the season.
Ottawa will have Tim Stützle carrying a hot hand into the building. He has 16 points on eight goals and eight assists, has scored in three straight games, and has recorded a point in four straight.
Vegas has had the upper hand in this matchup overall, going 12-2-0 all time against Ottawa. A win Tuesday would be the 410th regular-season victory in franchise history and would give the Golden Knights a much-needed reset at home after letting one slip away in overtime.

Golden Knights Finally Got The Momentum Swing They Desperately Needed
A stretch of frustration finally broke in a way the Golden Knights could feel on the bench and on the scoreboard. After three straight losses, Vegas steadied itself with a 4-1 win, and the kind of effort that matters when a team is trying to stop a slide before it grows legs. Adin Hill provided one of the nights defining moments when he left the net to cut off a shorthanded breakaway, a bold play that matched the urgency the Knights had been searching for.
Raphael Lavoie added the kind of lift teams remember, scoring his first NHL goal and the game-winner in the same night. Vegas was outshot and outplayed for long stretches, but it found enough from multiple players to turn the game in its favor, and coach Ryan Craig had reason to leave the rink feeling better about where the group stood. The bigger question now is whether this was just one needed reset or the start of a real swing in momentum. [Read more 🡒]
Shea Theodores Most Personal Golden Knights Effort Keeps Growing
Shea Theodores effort to turn a personal loss into something lasting keeps finding new ways to reach the community. He and Comprehensive Cancer Centers recently announced a $50,000 donation to Kays Power Play, the initiative created to honor Theodores late grandmother, Kay Darlington, and support breast cancer organizations across Southern Nevada.
Since it launched in 2020, the program has helped generate more than $450,000, with the money going toward mammograms and assistance for women who are uninsured or underinsured. For Theodore, it is a reminder that this has become about more than a tribute, as the reach of Kays Power Play continues to grow and give back in ways that matter well beyond the ice. [Read more 🡒]
Golden Knights Get One More October Test With Extra Friday Tension
The Golden Knights have spent October tracking a pace that looks a lot like the one an AI projection laid out for them, sitting at 9-4-1 with one game left in the month. They also have a little recent lift in the building after Raphael Lavoie scored his first NHL goal in the win over the Ottawa Senators, a milestone that added another positive note to a month that has mostly gone according to script.
Now comes one more Friday test against the New Jersey Devils, and it brings a familiar level of tension for a late-October night. Connor Hellebuyck is set to be part of the matchup after recently helping New Jersey beat the Dallas Stars, so Vegas gets a chance to close the month against a goalie who has already been part of a statement result, with the question of how the Knights finish still hanging in the air.
