Shane Wright’s future with the Seattle Kraken is staying put, at least for now.
Kurt Overhardt, Wright’s agent, said there’s no move to dissect at the moment after the forward’s trade request wasn’t granted. “There is nothing we can discuss at present; we will need to observe developments in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Shane is fully committed to the Kraken, and that is his sole focus at this time.”
In Philadelphia, the Flyers are heading into camp without much interest in adding bodies on a PTO. According to Jackie Spiegel, a source said Thursday that the team doesn’t plan to bring anyone in on a professional tryout.
That doesn’t close the door completely, and it doesn’t mean the Flyers are opposed to PTOs in general. But with a shortened preseason and some built-in competition already on the roster, there’s a clear logic to keeping things as they are.
Vancouver is another team drawing plenty of attention, and Jake DeBrusk’s name came up in that conversation. David Pagnotta was asked on Sekeres and Price if it was surprising that DeBrusk is still with the Canucks, and his answer was measured.

“Yes and no. Yes, from the point of his positioning, and you know, $5.5 million cap hit, it’s pretty solid cap hit.
Now, he does have five years left, and that’s why I’m not overly shocked that we haven’t seen anything yet because there is term. He’s entering year or has entered year three of seven of this deal.
And now with the, you know, with, with RJ in, in charge and, and the direction of him and the Sedin’s, that kind of, you know, putting a mark on this team, or starting to really put a mark on this team as part of this rebuild. You know, maybe the ask shifted a little bit.”
Matthew Sekeres also weighed in on whether DeBrusk staying put was a surprise, pointing to the contract, the player’s durability, and the way his production has held up.
