In a whirlwind turn of events, Castagna found himself at the center of a major trade, heading to Calgary. Reflecting on the chaos, he likened the experience to being drafted all over again. "It was a pretty chaotic couple of hours," Castagna shared, noting the flood of calls from Calgary's management.
Amidst the flurry, he joked about how NHL veterans, with established lives and families, must feel when faced with such sudden changes. Luckily for Castagna, his situation is different.
At just 20, the Toronto native is currently playing at Cornell University. He plans to finish his season and semester before deciding on a professional career.
For now, his involvement in the Weegar trade doesn't drastically alter his immediate plans. With the NCAA playoffs heating up, and Cornell set to face Harvard in a best-of-three ECAC Quarterfinals, the Flames have touched base but want him to stay focused on his current goals.
