Evander Kane Linked to Possible Trade Amid NHL Shakeup

Amid revived NHL trade discussions, significant interest surrounds Evander Kane's future with the Vancouver Canucks.

The 2026 Men's Hockey Olympic Tournament has wrapped up, and with the NHL trade freeze lifted, the buzz around Vancouver Canucks players is heating up again. One name making waves is Evander Kane.

Darren Dreger from TSN shared some insights on Sekeres and Price about Kane’s situation:

“There was a lot of interest leading up to the Olympic roster freeze on February 4. Now that we're past the Olympic break, teams have a clearer picture of the market with the March 6 NHL Trade Deadline looming.

I'm hearing multiple teams are still interested. The Dallas Stars might hold off until the last minute, and other teams could follow suit, which might delay any immediate action from Vancouver.

However, my sources suggest there's enough interest in Kane that a deal could very well happen this week.”

Kane, now 34, was picked up from the Edmonton Oilers last summer in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick. This season, he's recorded nine goals and 16 assists, totaling 25 points over 56 games, while also logging a minus-18 rating and 76 penalty minutes.

Standing at 6’2”, Kane is in the final stretch of a four-year, $20.5 million contract with an average annual value of $5.125 million. With free agency on the horizon this July, a move to a contender could significantly enhance his market value.

Approaching his 1,000th NHL game, Kane sits at 986. But if Dreger's intel holds true, it seems unlikely that Kane will hit this milestone wearing a Canucks jersey.
