Elias Pettersson Climbs Canucks’ All-Time Assists List, Eyes More Franchise Milestones
Elias Pettersson just added another line to his growing legacy in Vancouver.
With a crisp setup on Tom Willander’s goal against the San Jose Sharks, Pettersson notched his 291st career assist as a Canuck-moving him past Dennis Kearns and into sole possession of ninth place on the franchise’s all-time assists leaderboard. It’s another impressive milestone for a player whose name is quickly becoming synonymous with Canucks history.
What makes this achievement even more notable is that Pettersson has reached it despite missing time this season due to injury. Still, he leads the team in scoring with 13 goals and 19 assists through 44 games-a testament to his offensive consistency and ability to generate chances even when not at full strength. That helper against San Jose also extended his current point streak to three games, a sign he’s heating up at the right time.
This isn’t the first time this season Pettersson has climbed the franchise’s all-time assists rankings. Earlier in the campaign, he moved past J.T.
Miller to claim 10th place. Now with Kearns in the rearview mirror, the next target is Alex Edler, who sits in eighth with 310 career assists in a Canucks sweater.
And while Edler’s mark is still a ways off, Pettersson’s pace suggests it’s well within reach-if not this season, then certainly in the near future.
And assists aren’t the only category where Pettersson is making noise. He’s also closing in on another major milestone: cracking the top 10 in goals scored in franchise history.
With 198 goals to his name, he’s just three shy of passing former captain Bo Horvat (201) for ninth all-time. Given Pettersson’s scoring touch and the way he’s been producing lately, that number could fall any game now.
Pettersson’s impact on the Canucks goes beyond just the numbers.
