Canucks Reveal Likely Lineup for Anticipated Clash Against Jets

As the Vancouver Canucks gear up for their showdown with the Winnipeg Jets, all eyes are on their lineup decisions and power play improvements amid swirling trade rumors.

The Vancouver Canucks hit the ice at Rogers Arena on Tuesday, wrapping up a week of practice at the University of British Columbia. With a lively crowd on hand thanks to a promotional event, the Canucks prepped for their upcoming clash against the Winnipeg Jets.

Lineup Insights

The Canucks stuck with their recent line combinations for a second day, suggesting stability heading into their matchup with the Jets. Elias Pettersson was flanked by Evander Kane and Jake DeBrusk, creating a dynamic top line.

Marco Rossi, making his return after a stint on the sidelines, centered Drew O’Connor and Brock Boeser, who was back in full contact. Meanwhile, Teddy Blueger anchored a line with Liam Öhgren and Conor Garland, while David Kämpf worked between Nils Höglander and Linus Karlsson.

Aatu Räty and Max Sasson are expected to be healthy scratches.

On defense, the Canucks paired veterans with younger talent. Filip Hronek teamed up with Elias Pettersson, Tyler Myers joined forces with Zeev Buium, and Marcus Pettersson partnered with Tom Willander. Buium, previously wearing a full cage, switched to a clear visor.

Due to travel delays, Olympian Kevin Lankinen hadn’t yet returned to Vancouver but was slated to arrive Tuesday evening. He’s expected to sit out Wednesday and Thursday, resuming practice on Friday.

His Olympic status allows the Canucks some roster flexibility, enabling them to activate Boeser, Rossi, and Buium, while Filip Chytil moves to IR. Nikita Tolopilo and Jiri Patera are set to guard the net against the Jets, with Lankinen replacing Patera post-game.

Power Play Focus

The Canucks dedicated significant practice time to their power play, which struggled with a 1-for-21 slump over the last 10 games. Filip Hronek, who scored against the Sharks, took the point on the top unit alongside Boeser, Pettersson, DeBrusk, and Rossi. The second unit featured Willander and Pettersson on defense, with Garland, Kane, and Karlsson up front.

Voices from the Ice

Adam Foote addressed the trade deadline buzz, emphasizing the need for focus: “It’s our job just to keep going. Every day is different.

We’re going to have more noise with the trade deadline. These guys are pros.

They know it’s part of the business.”

Jake DeBrusk, familiar with trade rumors, shared his perspective: “Since my rookie year, I’ve been part of trade rumours. It’s tough on guys.

Nowadays with social media, it’s a little more heightened. I try to roll with the punches and just do what I can.”

As the Canucks prepare to face the Jets, they aim to shake off distractions and bring their best game, bolstered by strategic lineups and a sharpened power play.
