Canucks Prospect Celebrini Falls as Boston University Routed in Beanpot Final

Canucks prospect Aiden Celebrini and Boston University couldnt repeat last years success as Boston College seized control of a high-stakes Beanpot rematch.

Boston College got their redemption - and they got it in emphatic fashion.

The Eagles rolled past Boston University with a 6-2 win in the 2026 Beanpot Championship, flipping the script from last year’s title game and reclaiming bragging rights in one of college hockey’s most storied rivalries. For Vancouver Canucks prospect Aiden Celebrini, it was a tough night as his BU squad couldn’t keep pace with a BC team firing on all cylinders.

Celebrini, one of two Canucks prospects in this year’s Beanpot, finished the game with a shot on goal and a blocked shot, but the Terriers were chasing this one almost from the drop of the puck. BU actually struck first - Brandon Svoboda opened the scoring - but from that point forward, it was all Eagles. BC answered with four straight goals, three of which came on the power play, and never looked back.

This marks the second straight year these two teams have met in the Beanpot Final. A year ago, it was BU - with Celebrini and fellow Canucks prospect Tom Willander in the lineup - who came out on top with a 4-1 win. But this time, BC flipped the narrative, showing a level of execution and special teams dominance that BU simply couldn’t match.

Celebrini wasn’t the only Vancouver prospect skating under the bright lights of the Beanpot. In the semifinal round, BU edged out Northeastern in a 3-2 shootout thriller, eliminating another Canucks prospect in the process - forward Matthew Perkins. Perkins had a strong showing for Northeastern, registering three shots on goal in the third-place game against Harvard, though his team ultimately fell 4-1.

For the Canucks organization, it’s always valuable to see how their young prospects perform in high-stakes environments like the Beanpot. It’s a pressure cooker of a tournament - fast, physical, and packed with NHL scouts - and while the result didn’t go Celebrini’s way this time, these are the kinds of games that help shape a player’s development.

As for BC, they’ll savor this one. A rivalry win, a trophy, and a little payback - not a bad night at the office.
