Bo Horvat is making waves once again, notching his 30th goal of the season against the Dallas Stars on March 26. While this NHL season has been a rollercoaster for the Vancouver Canucks, Horvat, a former Canucks captain, is thriving with the New York Islanders. This marks the fourth time in his career he's hit the 30-goal milestone, showcasing his consistent scoring prowess.
Horvat first broke the 30-goal barrier with the Canucks in the 2021-22 season, scoring 31 goals in 70 games. The following season, he set a personal best with 31 goals in just 49 games before being traded to the Islanders, where he added seven more goals in 30 games. Since joining New York, Horvat has continued to shine, scoring 30+ goals in two of the last three seasons, narrowly missing the mark with 28 goals in 2024-25.
March has been a productive month for Horvat, with six goals and five assists over 13 games, going scoreless in only three contests. This follows his participation in the Winter Olympics with Team Canada, where he contributed two goals in six games.
Despite battling injuries in December and January, Horvat managed 19 goals in 31 games, boasting a goals-per-game rate of .612. His 30th goal ties him with Zach Hyman and Connor Bedard for the 27th spot in the NHL scoring ranks. If not for those injuries, Horvat might have climbed even higher on that list.
Currently, Horvat and the Islanders are locked in a fierce competition for the Eastern Conference's wildcard spots. With 87 points in 73 games, they hold the final spot, but the Ottawa Senators are hot on their heels, just a point behind with a game in hand. The race is tight, and every point counts as the season winds down.
