Utah added another in-state win to its 2027 recruiting haul on Monday, landing Corner Canyon offensive tackle Moa Brown after a late battle with USC.
Brown, a three-star prospect, chose the Utes over the Trojans in the final stretch of his recruitment. Arizona, BYU and Michigan were also involved before he settled on Utah. He had previously committed to Fresno State, then reopened things in October and trimmed his options down to Utah and USC.
The momentum had been building. On a recent appearance on Utah Blockcast, 247Sports national recruiting analyst Collin Kennedy signaled that the Utes were in a strong spot.
“I think Utah ultimately is in closing position,” Kennedy said. “Sure, we see last-minute pivots in today’s day and age of college football, but I think Utah should be expecting some good news.”
That prediction proved accurate, and Utah now has another important piece for its 2027 class.
Brown gives Morgan Scalley’s program a big-bodied tackle prospect with plenty of upside. Rivals lists him at 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds, and his path to the position is still fairly fresh. He moved from defensive line to offensive line before his senior season, which means his experience at tackle is still catching up to his physical tools.
He’s also a multi-sport athlete who has excelled on the basketball court, a background that often helps football players develop coordination and movement skills. In some ways, his projection resembles what Zereoue Williams’ was coming out of high school in 2021.
There’s real development ahead for Brown, and that’s part of the appeal. At his current size, strength and added mass will matter as he prepares to handle college edge rushers and move bodies in the run game. His technique will need continued work too, especially his pass sets, hand placement and leverage.
This is not a plug-and-play addition. It’s a long-term investment at a premium spot, one Utah can afford to be patient with.
Given what Jordan Gross has done for the aforementioned Williams this season, this is an exciting addition to the class for him to work with down the road. For Utah, the draw is obvious: a tackle prospect with room to grow both physically and technically.
Brown’s commitment pushes Utah to 22 pledges in the 2027 cycle and makes him the third Corner Canyon player in the class, joining Diesel Dart and Jackson West. He also deepens an offensive line group that already includes Timpview’s Ian Aloisio, California prospect Damian Anyasodo and Arizona’s Sire Stewart.
The Utes’ class continues to be built on a strong local base. With Brown now in the fold, 10 of Utah’s 22 commitments come from Utah high schools. That group includes Jaxton Itaaehau, Fui Vakapuna, Kaleb Hall, Monson Tukuafu, Dillon Sykes and Jonah Mailei, along with Aloisio and the Corner Canyon trio.
Utah has also added a sizable Texas presence, including defensive backs Jaden Bibbs, Darrod Jacobs and Aiden Martin, along with Brandon Richards and receiver Darnell Jackson Jr. Arizona quarterback Jonah Lubno, tight end Braxton Daniel and defensive lineman Tiki Teeples are among the other names filling out the class.
For Utah, Brown’s decision checks two of the program’s biggest recruiting boxes at once: keeping a top in-state target home and continuing to build from the trenches out. Winning that head-to-head with USC makes it an especially meaningful pickup.

Utah Gets A Tough Holy War Week Reality Check
Ahead of the Holy War, Utah got a clearer picture of its roster and a reminder of how thin the margins can be this time of year. Morgan Scalley said Kelvin Obot will miss the rest of the season because of a lower-leg injury, while also indicating that Noah Bennee, Braden Pegan, Wayshawn Parker and Ethan Day are expected to be available for the rivalry game against BYU.
Scalley also used the buildup to push for a more civil tone around a rivalry that rarely lacks edge, even as he praised Devon Dampiers performance and leadership. And with BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier, Scalleys view has evolved as well, after initially sizing him up one way and then acknowledging how much his passing game has improved. [Read more 🡒]
BYU Heads Into Utah Showdown With A Backfield Problem
BYU is heading into Saturdays rivalry game with Utah carrying more than the usual questions about its ground attack. Kalani Sitake acknowledged the challenge this week, praising Utah back Wayshawn Parker as an NFL-caliber runner while also taking stock of a BYU backfield that has been hit hard by injuries and has not had much stability in recent weeks.
The Cougars have been forced to navigate those issues while trying to keep the running game functional against a Utah defense that will be ready for a physical fight. Sitake did not sound like a coach expecting easy answers, and with the backfield still unsettled, BYUs ability to generate offense on the ground could end up being one of the more important subplots in the matchup. Utah Just Added A Recruit Who Changes The Feel Of 2027
Utah kept building out its 2027 class with a notable in-state pickup, landing high three-star offensive tackle Manase Brown from Corner Canyon High. Brown gives the Utes another big body up front and adds to a class that already includes four offensive line recruits, a clear sign that the program is making the trenches a priority early in the cycle.
Brown is also now one of Utahs top-rated prospects in the class, ranked second on the Utes board for 2027. For a program that has long sold itself on development and line play, adding a player with Browns profile only sharpens the look of the class and raises the stakes for what comes next in the recruiting run.
