Taking the reins as Utah's new offensive line coach, Jordan Gross is diving headfirst into college coaching alongside head coach Morgan Scalley for the 2026 season. Despite this being his first college gig, Gross is embracing the challenge with enthusiasm and determination.
Gross acknowledges the leap of faith Scalley took by bringing him on board. "It's a big responsibility, and I'm committed to doing an outstanding job," Gross shared.
"Coach Scalley's taking a chance on me, and I want to honor that trust. I have confidence in my ability to coach these guys, even if it’s new territory for me."
Gross is fully aligned with Scalley's ambitious vision for the program. Scalley's mantra, 'I might be a baby, but my teams are going to rip your face off,' resonates deeply with him.
"That's my style, both as a player and a coach. I want to foster an environment full of positivity and energy while maintaining high standards," Gross explained.
This commitment isn’t just for show. Gross is all in on Scalley’s goal of winning a national championship.
"I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t believe in that mission," Gross stated. "Coach Scalley's direction is inspiring, and I’m excited to be part of it."
One of the biggest shifts for Gross has been diving into the world of recruiting. Having seen it up close during the recruitment of Kelvin Obot, Gross is no stranger to the demands. His impressive playing career also gives him credibility when connecting with potential recruits.
Gross approaches recruiting with honesty and transparency. "I share why I left a place of comfort to join Utah.
It’s about believing in our mission and my coaching style. It’s not a pitch-it’s about being real with these kids," he said.
Utah has a strong reputation for attracting top offensive line talent, and Gross isn’t backing down from competition. "I’m not intimidated by other schools.
The right fit for Utah will want to be here. If they prefer elsewhere, that’s fine.
We have something special," Gross noted. "Recruiting is enjoyable.
These kids remind me of myself years ago."
With Gross on board, Utah's offensive line is poised for an exciting season ahead.
