Devon Dampiers GameDay Spotlight Comes With An Awkward Backstory

As Devon Dampier prepares to lead the Utah Utes against Houston, his personal ties bring an intriguing backstory involving his girlfriend Lola Sexton's past with NFL QB Jaxson Dart.

Utah quarterback Devon Dampier will have Lola Sexton in his corner when the No. 1 Utes host Houston for College GameDay in Week 8 on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Sexton has become a familiar name around Utah football because of her relationship with Dampier, and their pairings have quietly become part of the backdrop as the Utes chase an undefeated season and a statement win over the No. 14 Cougars at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

Dampier and Sexton went public in July, when they posted a vacation album from Cabo San Lucas and labeled it "last minute getaway."

Sexton, a hairstylist in Salt Lake City, also celebrated Dampier’s 22nd birthday earlier this month. In an Instagram post, she wrote, "happy birthday to my best friend ♥️ i could celebrate you everyday, ily!!"

The exact beginning of their relationship hasn’t been made public, but Dampier arrived at Utah after transferring from New Mexico before the 2025 season. He went on to help lead the Utes to a 10-2 record and was named Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year.

Their relationship has stayed mostly out of the spotlight, which may have been a deliberate choice after Sexton’s very public breakup with Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart.

Sexton and Dart dated after meeting as students at Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah. Their relationship continued through Dart’s college stops at USC and Ole Miss before they split ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, where the Giants picked him No. 25 overall.

In September 2024, Sexton addressed the breakup in a since-deleted TikTok video. "I really didn’t want to have to do this, but some stuff has been brought to my attention, and I just feel like I have to clear the air and share my side of the story," she said, per Outkick.

She followed that by accusing Dart of cheating. "So yes, he was cheating on me for a little over a year and a half, from what I know.

I found out from an anonymous text message, whoever you are, thank you. Thank you so much."

Sexton added, "I hope he has a good, healthy season. I just want everyone to just move on.

It's in the past, and you know what, life goes on," Sexton continued. "I can confidently say that I know amazing things are coming my way and I know we both learned.

I learned a lot, and we just need to let go and just move on."

Dart is now in a serious relationship with model and influencer Marissa Ayers.

Pat McAfee Changes GameDay Contest After Viral Drama At Houston Spotlight

The College GameDay kicking challenge rolled on into Utahs weekend spotlight after a previous millionaire moment had already turned the promo into must-watch TV. This time, the setup was the same familiar one: a raffle-based shot at a massive cash prize, backed by sponsors and donors, with a selected participant stepping up for a pressure-packed field goal attempt during the college football season.

Utah junior Morgan Boring got the chance, but the scene carried a different kind of edge once the cameras rolled and the crowd settled in around the kick. Boring, who came in as a swimmer and had no prior kicking background, was part of the latest round of high-value attempts tied to the show, and the miss only added to the growing list of GameDay moments that have turned a simple contest into a weekly attraction. Cincinnati turned Saturday into a statement night, knocking off No. 8 Texas Tech behind a sharp outing from JC French IV and a breakout run game from Cole Tabb. For Utah, the timing matters as much as the result. Pat McAfees Utah Blowup Gave Houston Fans An Unexpected Moment

Pat McAfees run-in with Utah fans on College GameDay had already taken on a life of its own by the time Houston came into the picture. The former NFL player and current media personality made clear where he stood in the matchup, and Utah supporters did not exactly let that slide. A tense exchange with a kicking contest contestant, along with a University of Utah Instagram post that poked fun at him, only added more fuel to a feud that had already become part of the broadcast.

McAfee has since leaned into the antagonism, and it has left Utah fans with one more reason to pay attention to his next appearance on the set. The kicking contest moment, in particular, seemed to sharpen the edge of the whole episode, with the contestants complaint about the prize and McAfees sarcastic $20 remark feeding the back-and-forth. For a fan base already annoyed by his Houston lean, the blowup has become one of those odd little college football storylines that lingers long after the game itself. [Read more 🡒]
