Summer League took a hard turn in the final minutes of Jazz-Bulls on Monday night when Trey Alexander went down after a collision with Caleb Wilson and had to leave on a stretcher.
The sequence came with fewer than three minutes left in the fourth quarter. Alexander drove toward the basket, made contact with Wilson, drew the foul, and then quickly showed obvious pain after the play.
He was seen clutching his left side and appeared to be struggling to breathe while lying on the floor as the Jazz medical staff came out to him. Before long, he was evacuated from the court on a stretcher.
Alexander’s night had already been a grind on offense. He finished with just two points and missed all five of his shots, but he still made a real impact in Utah’s 80-63 win over Chicago with six steals, six rebounds, and three assists.
The guard has spent time with the Nuggets and the Pelicans on a two-way contract while trying to carve out a spot in the league. He was the 2025 G League Rookie of the Year and had been fighting for minutes on the Pelicans last season before they eventually sent him to their G League team as well.
For now, the biggest question is simply what happened on the play. The source of the injury was not immediately clear, and the scene left plenty of fans shaken. Social media filled up fast with messages like, “Pray for Trey Alexander, everyone.”
Other reactions followed in the same vein:
“Never wanna see a guy fighting for a roster spot go out from a summer league injury. Hope he recovers. No clue what the injury is, but it looked like he was grabbing around his liver or appendix.”
“Scary scenes in Summer League, hope Trey Alexander is okay.”
“I’m still shocked over Trey Alexander. That actually took him out.
Hope he’s okay. I worry about stuff like that since Chris Bosh had his career end after a contact on the floor triggered his onset symptoms.”
It was a frightening finish to a game that had already gone the Jazz’s way, and the hope now is that Alexander’s recovery is a quick one.

LeBrons Next Move Could Quietly Cost The Jazz A Familiar Veteran
LeBron James expected departure from the Lakers is already sending ripple effects through the league, and one of them could reach Utah in an unexpected way. Kevin Love, who has a long-standing connection with James from their Cleveland days, has been floated as a possible fit for whatever team lands James this summer, which puts the Jazz in an awkward spot with a veteran they know well and a roster that is already crowded.
Utah has been carrying a full roster, and the frontcourt picture only gets tighter if the team keeps adding pieces. Love is near the end of his career, so the Jazz would have to weigh sentiment and familiarity against roster math and fit, especially with other options in the mix. For now, the question is less about whether Love still has a place in the league and more about whether there will be one in Utah if James next stop starts pulling familiar names along with him. Jazz Fans Are Asking Why Utah Got Blocked Again
The Jazzs Summer League plans ran into a familiar kind of league bureaucracy, with Utah seeking permission to have Keyonte George serve on its coaching staff and getting turned away. For a team trying to make the most of July basketball, it was the sort of small but revealing decision that can feel bigger than the setting, especially when clubs are looking for any edge in development and player engagement.
What made the reaction louder was the sight of Derrick White coaching for Boston during the same Summer League, a contrast that immediately raised questions about how the NBA is applying its rules. The Celtics also scrubbed social media posts that showed White on the sideline with their assistants, adding another layer to a situation that has left Jazz fans wondering why one team gets blocked while another appears to move through the same lane.
