Lakers: LeBron James Sets New Milestone
LeBron James continues to redefine what longevity means in the NBA. On Saturday, he stepped onto the court for his 1,612th regular-season game, surpassing Hall of Famer Robert Parish and setting a new league record. Yet, in true LeBron fashion, this milestone wasn't something he had meticulously planned for.
“It’s not like I’m writing things down and looking at the record book,” James shared. “It just kind of happened. It was not on the list of things that I wanted to accomplish.”
What truly stands out is LeBron’s commitment to being available for his team. His focus on preparation and maintaining his body has been a cornerstone of his illustrious career.
“I’ve always prided myself on trying to be as available as possible to my teammates,” he said. “Going out on the floor every night and keeping my body intact.”
Kings: Navigating Wins and Injuries
The Sacramento Kings are finding their groove, winning five of their last eight games, including a solid victory over Brooklyn. However, staying healthy is proving to be a challenge.
Rookie Nique Clifford had to leave the game in the fourth quarter after twisting his ankle. Meanwhile, starting point guard Killian Hayes exited with a toe injury. These setbacks are particularly tough for the younger players eager to gain experience.
“Man, it sucks, especially for the young guys,” DeMar DeRozan commented. “You want them to get as many reps and experience as possible, and to see them go down, it definitely sucks. Hopefully, it’s nothing too serious.”
Jazz: Bez Mbeng’s Second Chance
The Utah Jazz are giving Bez Mbeng another shot with a second 10-day contract. The former Yale standout impressed during his initial stint, appearing in five games and averaging 4.8 points, 4.2 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals.
Mbeng logged significant minutes against Philadelphia, playing 45 and contributing 13 points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Known for his defensive prowess, Mbeng was a three-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year and snagged Player of the Year honors in his final college season.
If the Jazz want to keep him longer, they'll need to secure him with a standard contract.
