The Utah Jazz’s Sunday afternoon matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers comes with a familiar pregame wrinkle: who’s in, who’s out, and what kind of rotation each team can realistically expect at the Delta Center.
Utah’s side of the report is pretty straightforward. Jusuf Nurkic remains sidelined by the foot injury that has kept him out since the second game of preseason, and the Jazz will also be without two-way signees Trey Alexander and Harrison Ingram as they wait for their first season debuts.
There is at least one encouraging note for the Jazz frontcourt. Tony Bradley is available for this game, a welcome update after he had been listed on the injury report for Utah’s last two games against the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans.
Nurkic, meanwhile, still won’t be ready to face the Lakers and their big man Walker Kessler, but his recovery does appear to be moving in the right direction. According to a video posted by the Salt Lake Tribune’s Shreyas Laddha, Nurkic was back around practice for Utah in some capacity on Saturday, a sign that he’s edging closer to a return.

That lines up with the original timeline Utah received when the injury happened earlier this month. Nurkic was given four weeks, which points to an early-to-mid-November return if everything stays on track and there are no setbacks.
For now, his status remains one to watch. But getting back into practice, even in a limited way, suggests he may be getting closer to rejoining the Jazz over the next few games.
Los Angeles comes in with a cleaner bill of health. The Lakers are set to be without only Cameron Carr and Adou Thiero on the road trip to Utah, barring any changes before tipoff.
One update from their previous injury reports: Jake LaRavia is now officially active after missing the last two games with an ankle sprain, giving the Lakers a little more forward depth for this one.
Tip-off is set for 3 PM MT on Sunday. Utah is trying to follow up its clutch home win over the Pelicans with another one in front of its own crowd.

Jazz Fans Still Have One Kevin Love Question Hanging Over Them
Kevin Loves name lingered through the offseason as a possible Utah return, especially after earlier expectations pointed that way, but the calendar turned and he still had not signed anywhere. For Jazz fans, that leaves one more loose end on a summer that already asked plenty of questions, and it keeps his status tied to the kind of veteran depth teams often sort out only after training camp dust settles.
Love has not announced retirement, which is why the story is still alive even without an official move. There are rumors about possible reunions elsewhere, but nothing has been confirmed, and the most realistic path may be a midseason opportunity when the right roster spot opens up. [Read more 🡒]
Jazz Get An Early Test In The Walker Kessler Decision
Walker Kesslers first trip back into the conversation with the Jazz comes with a little extra edge, even if the tone around it has stayed cordial. The center, now with the Lakers, has settled in quickly on a roster that appears to suit him, and the matchup offers Utah an early measuring stick for where it stands after moving on from a young big man who had become part of its core conversation.
The broader backdrop is a restricted free agency departure that altered the path for both sides, with the Lakers benefiting from a fit that has looked natural from the start. For Utah, the game is less about sentiment than substance, a chance to see how much progress has been made against a team that now features a player the Jazz once hoped to keep building around. Jazz Face Early Pressure As Lakers Bring Back A Familiar Problem
The Jazz are already running into an early-season test as they get ready for their third game of the 2026-27 schedule against the Lakers, and this one comes with a few familiar pressures attached. The matchup brings another look at Luka Doncic, who has given Utah trouble before, while also adding a return to Salt Lake City for Walker Kessler, now wearing a Lakers uniform.
Utahs own lineup picture is still taking shape after two games, with different starting groups in each of them. That leaves Will Hardy and his staff with a decision to sort through before tipoff, especially with the Lakers presenting a blend of star power and emotional subplots that can expose a team still searching for its best five.
