USCs Jazzy Davidson Earns Fifth Big Ten Honor After Huge Performances

USC freshman Jazzy Davidson continues to turn heads with another standout week, reinforcing her growing dominance in Big Ten play.

Jazzy Davidson Continues to Shine: USC Freshman Earns Fifth Big Ten Weekly Honor

Jazzy Davidson is making this whole “freshman in the Big Ten” thing look a little too easy.

On Monday, USC’s standout first-year guard earned her second consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor - and her fifth of the season. That’s not just a hot streak. That’s the kind of consistency that turns heads and builds legacies.

Davidson’s latest accolade comes on the heels of a pair of impressive back-to-back performances that helped power the Trojans to two key road wins. She dropped 21 points and dished out six assists at Northwestern, then followed that up with a career-best showing at Illinois: 27 points, eight rebounds, and a career-high eight assists. That’s the kind of all-around production that doesn’t just fill up a box score - it fuels momentum, especially for a team looking to make a late-season push.

Through 24 games, Davidson has been nothing short of a cornerstone for USC. She leads or ranks near the top in nearly every major statistical category, averaging 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 2.2 blocks, and 1.8 steals per game. She’s logging 34.1 minutes a night - a workload that speaks volumes about the trust she’s earned from the coaching staff in just her first year on campus.

Her shooting splits reflect a player still finding rhythm from deep but making an impact in other areas: 39.3% from the field, 25.8% from three-point range, and a reliable 76.5% from the free throw line. Efficiency will come, but the volume, poise, and defensive presence are already there.

As for the Trojans, they sit at 15-9 overall and 7-6 in Big Ten play. With just a few games left in the regular season, every matchup matters in the race for tournament seeding.

USC returns home to face Indiana on Thursday before a bit of a breather ahead of a Feb. 19 showdown with Wisconsin. Then it’s back on the road for a tough stretch - a visit to No.

8 Ohio State on Feb. 22, followed by a trip to Penn State on Feb. 25.

They’ll close out the regular season with a marquee home matchup against No. 2 UCLA on March 1 before heading to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Tournament.

Currently sitting in ninth place in the conference standings, the Trojans still have time - and talent - to climb. And if Davidson keeps playing at this level, USC becomes a much tougher out for anyone in the league.

Elsewhere around the conference, Indiana’s Shay Ciezki and UCLA’s Kiki Rice were named Co-Players of the Week. It’s the third weekly nod for Ciezki this season and the first for Rice - both guards playing pivotal roles for their respective squads.

But make no mistake: this week, once again, belonged to Jazzy Davidson. And if her trajectory holds, it won’t be the last time we say that this season.
