USC Just Made Its Push For Rising West Coast Playmakers

USC's recruiting efforts heat up with a series of high-profile visits from promising young offensive talents, signaling their strategic focus on future football dominance.

June has been a whirlwind for college football recruiting, with USC Trojans' campus buzzing with potential future stars. As schools wrap up their recruiting classes, the focus shifts to rising sophomores and juniors who are starting to make waves. Let's dive into some of the standout recruits from the 2028 and 2029 classes who visited USC this month.

First up, we have Thaddeus Breaux, a 2029 quarterback from Los Angeles' Hamilton High. Standing tall at 6-5 and weighing in at 225 pounds, Breaux is a local talent whose recruitment has gained significant traction this offseason. He had the chance to work out with USC's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Luke Huard on June 9, marking his return to campus after attending two spring practices.

From Michigan's Cass Technical, 2028 five-star quarterback Donald Tabron II made his presence felt at USC on June 10. Ranked as the No. 31 overall prospect and No. 3 quarterback by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Tabron reconnected with former high school teammate, redshirt freshman defensive back Alex Graham, during his visit. Although USC hasn't extended a quarterback offer for the 2028 cycle yet, Tabron is certainly a name to watch.

Texas' Allen High boasts another promising quarterback, Ty Snell, from the 2029 class. Snell, who first visited USC back in December 2022, returned for an invite-only workout on June 11.

He relished the opportunity to compete and learn from Huard and head coach Lincoln Riley. Snell's alma mater is the same that produced Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray, and though USC hasn't offered him yet, the Trojans remain on his radar.

Makai Buchanan, a 2029 running back from Victor Valley, also showcased his skills on June 10. With over 30 offers already in hand, Buchanan is a hot commodity, especially among Big Ten and SEC schools. USC, however, is keen on keeping this local star in California.

Another running back making waves is Malaki Davis from Centennial High, who visited USC on June 11. As a 2028 three-star recruit, Davis has frequently visited the Trojans, who are currently the favorites in his recruitment.

Santa Margarita's Jaion Smith, a 2028 three-star running back, joined the invite-only workout and left with a USC offer in hand, boosting the Trojans' standing in his recruitment. Smith's family ties to former Trojans All-Conference cornerback Jaylin Smith add an interesting twist to his story.

Dennis Tua’one, a 2028 four-star receiver from Timpview, got his first taste of USC during the June 11 workout and spent the weekend in Los Angeles for the OT7 tournament. As a top 100 prospect, Tua’one keeps USC in his sights.

Hayden Koo, a 2028 four-star receiver from Tustin, has seen his recruitment soar, especially after receiving a USC offer post-workout on June 11. With a stellar 4.6 GPA, Koo values the academic prestige and alumni network USC offers, making them a strong contender in his recruitment.

Jaylin Smalls, a 2028 four-star tight end from Rancho Cucamonga, also earned a USC offer after his workout, adding to the Trojans' exciting prospects.

USC's recruiting efforts didn't stop there. They hosted two top-tier local offensive linemen from the 2028 class.

Cajon's Austin Attalah, a five-star offensive tackle and the No. 1 recruit in California, made a return visit on June 9. Meanwhile, Elisha Mueller from St.

John Bosco, a four-star interior offensive lineman, worked out with USC's offensive line coach Zach Hanson on June 11, as the Trojans aim to maintain their strong ties with the powerhouse program.

With such a dynamic group of young talent visiting USC, the Trojans are setting the stage for a bright future. Keep an eye on these recruits as they continue to shape the landscape of college football.

Indiana Just Lost Another Experienced Arm To The Portal

USC kept adding to its pitching mix this offseason with another veteran arm, a move that should matter for a staff looking to keep building on back-to-back NCAA Tournament trips. The Trojans are trying to push deeper in 2027, and experience has been a clear priority as they piece together a roster that can handle the grind of a full season and give them more options on the mound.

Anthony Gubitosi arrives after stops at Delaware and Indiana, giving USC a left-handed option with a lot of college baseball behind him already. He spent last season in Indianas bullpen, where he was used in a limited role, and now gets a fresh start in Los Angeles for his fifth collegiate season as the Trojans continue to reshape the pitching staff. USC Freshman Elbert Hill Is Already Testing A Familiar Trojans Narrative

USC spent plenty of energy building out its cornerback future in the 2026 cycle, and Elbert Rock Hill is already looking like the most interesting piece of that plan. The freshman arrived with the kind of reputation that makes coaches pay attention, and he has backed it up quickly in spring practice, where his athleticism and knack for making plays have stood out in a crowded defensive backs room.

That room is no soft landing, either, with veterans and other highly regarded recruits all pushing for snaps when the season arrives. Still, USC has not hidden its preference for getting freshmen on the field early rather than parking them for a redshirt year, and Hills fast start is giving the program another familiar Trojans storyline to monitor: whether a gifted young corner can force his way into the rotation sooner than expected. USCs 2026 Schedule Has An Uncomfortable Transfer Portal Twist

USCs 2026 football schedule already had the usual road-test intrigue, but it comes with an added layer of familiarity that will make a few Saturdays feel a little more personal. Several former Trojans are set to show up on the other sideline, creating a tour of recent roster departures that stretches across the fall and turns nonconference and Big Ten games into reunion opportunities.

The list includes Deijon Laffitte and Gino Quinones with Fresno State, Bear Alexander with Oregon, Kade Eldridge with Washington, Bryan Jackson with Wisconsin and Harry Dalton III with Maryland. For USC, it is the kind of reminder that the transfer portal can reshape a roster quickly, and also the kind of schedule wrinkle that can leave an old fan favorite or two in line for an awkward welcome back.
