USC Football Stuns With Chris Meyers Addition to Coaching Staff

USC Football strengthens its coaching roster by welcoming Chris Meyers, bringing a blend of offensive expertise and proven connections to the team.

USC football is making strategic moves to bolster their offensive coaching staff for the 2026 season, welcoming Chris Meyers as the new assistant offensive line and tight ends coach. Meyers will also take on the role of run game specialist, adding depth to the Trojans' offensive strategy.

Meyers, a 2015 TCU graduate, has a connection to USC's new defensive coordinator, Gary Patterson, though it's not confirmed if he played under Patterson. Before joining USC, Meyers had a brief stint at Washington State as the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator. He was set to take on a dual role at The University of Texas Permian Basin as the offensive line coach and offensive coordinator before making the pivot to USC.

His coaching journey includes valuable experience at South Dakota State, where he served as the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator, and at Oklahoma State as an offensive line graduate assistant. This diverse background equips Meyers with a robust understanding of both player development and recruitment, which will be crucial for the Trojans moving forward.

Meyers is part of a wave of new hires at USC, joining a revamped coaching lineup that includes Gary Patterson as defensive coordinator, Paul Gonzales handling safeties, Mike Ekeler overseeing linebackers and special teams, Sam Carter focusing on the secondary and nickels, and Skyler Jones stepping up as the defensive tackles coach.

The addition of Meyers comes in the wake of former offensive line assistant coach Grayson Reed's departure to North Carolina Central. With these changes, USC is positioning itself to enhance its competitive edge in the upcoming season, aiming to blend fresh insights with seasoned expertise on the field.
