Oregon’s latest win on the field came with a little recruiting momentum attached.
The No. 23 Ducks knocked off previously ranked Northwestern 34-26 in Eugene on Halloween, a result that helped restore some goodwill inside Autzen Stadium.
Then, on Nov. 2, Oregon got another boost when four-star offensive tackle Lincoln Fa’alafi included the Ducks on his short list.
Fa’alafi is a massive target at 6-8 and 360 pounds, and he plays at JSerra Catholic in San Juan Capistrano, California. Hayes Fawcett of On3 helped reveal his list.
The junior is rated as the No. 2 overall prospect in California by Rivals Industry Rankings. 247Sports and ESPN both have him as the top player in the state for his graduating class. Nationally, he’s a four-star recruit across the board, with some outlets placing him as high as No. 7 overall.
Oregon under Dan Lanning has made a habit of chasing huge trench prospects on both sides of the ball. The Ducks already have a 6-8 edge rusher commit in Achilles Reyna for the 2027 class, and 2026 five-star signee Immanuel Iheanacho checks in at more than 6-6.
Fa’alafi’s appeal, though, goes well beyond the frame. He moves with surprising ease and has some of the best pass-blocking footwork in his class. According to 247Sports, he’s a former basketball player from New Zealand, and that background shows up in the way he carries quick feet onto the football field.
He pairs that movement with real violence at the point of attack. His first punch can wreck a pass rusher’s plan before it gets started, and he finishes blocks with a nasty edge, using his hands and power to drive defenders into the turf.
That blend of leverage and force makes him a problem for edge rushers and gives him a path to play either tackle spot. Left tackle could be in his future, but right tackle also looks like a strong fit.
Oregon won’t have an easy path here. UCLA is on the short list, and the Bruins remain unbeaten in the Big Ten.
USC is also in the mix and trying to build its 2028 class. Ohio State made the cut as well, giving Fa’alafi three Big Ten options.
The rest of the list includes Oklahoma as the lone SEC school, along with BYU and Notre Dame. For Oregon, landing Fa’alafi would be a major win and another sign that the Ducks can keep stacking elite size up front.

USC Freshmen Are Fueling Momentum And Mosley Sees It Growing
Freshmen have been doing more than just filling out the USC depth chart lately, and Week 9 offered another reminder of how much they are shaping the Trojans momentum. Trent Mosley was a central figure in the win, piling up five catches for 101 yards and a touchdown while adding 44 punt return yards, and Mark Bowman made his own mark with three receptions for 79 yards as the young core continued to provide real production.
Mosley also offered a glimpse into how the group is viewing the bigger picture, pointing to Bowmans big play and the way the team is approaching its bye week. The freshman wave has not been limited to the skill spots, either, with Kannon Smith also carving out a role by starting at left guard in Week 9, another sign that USCs youngest players are no longer just promising pieces but part of the teams weekly identity. USC Track Has A 2027 Stretch Trojans Fans Will Circle Fast
USC track and field now has its 2027 roadmap, and it is a schedule that should immediately catch the eye of Trojan fans following the programs rise under Quincy Watts. The sixth-year head coach will guide a slate that mixes invitational meets with the kind of championship-stage tests that define a season, giving the Trojans plenty of chances to measure themselves against top competition before the stakes climb.
The indoor and outdoor calendar stretches across several familiar track hotbeds, with stops planned in places like Reno, Albuquerque, Fayetteville and Los Angeles. Built around conference championships and NCAA championships, the schedule gives USC a clear runway from early-season competition to the biggest meets on the sports calendar, and it sets up 2027 as another year where the Trojans will have no shortage of high-profile moments. USC Suddenly Looks Like A Different Team After Ohio State Win
USCs win over Ohio State did more than change the mood around the program. It also offered a glimpse of what the Trojans can look like when the roster is closer to whole. Elijah Paige, Trent Mosley and Mark Bowman were back in the mix on offense, and their returns helped give USC a much stronger, more complete look on that side of the ball.
The defense had its own boost, with Jahkeem Stewart and Jide Abasiri on the field together and the group turning in a notable showing. Put together, the healthier lineup made USC look far more competitive than it had at other points this season, and it raised the obvious question of how different this team can be if it can keep that kind of availability going.
