Prophet Brown, the seasoned Trojan cornerback, is heading into his sixth year and has seen his fair share of talent come through the ranks. This year's freshman class, he notes, stands out for its maturity and skill.
"This group is really talented," Brown remarked. "They act more mature than previous classes, and Rock Hill is a standout. He's the best freshman corner I've seen here."
Elbert Hill IV, a freshman cornerback, and Madden Riordan, a freshman safety, are two players catching everyone's eye.
"Maddy's a natural," Brown said. "He's always eager to learn, and that's what sets successful players apart. They come ready to absorb everything."
Hill and Riordan join a promising group of newcomers in the secondary, including cornerbacks Brandon Lockhart, Joshua Holland II, Jayden Crowder, and safety Peyton Dyer.
Brown, as the veteran, brings invaluable experience and perspective, especially after overcoming an injury that sidelined him for the 2025 season.
"I appreciate everything now," he shared. "When something you love is taken away, you realize how much you miss it. I'm grateful for every chance to play."
Third-year sophomore Marcelles Williams has witnessed Brown's resilience firsthand. Even when sidelined, Brown remained a guiding force.
"He's always been someone to look up to," Williams said. "You can ask him anything, and he's a model for how to improve your game."
Brown and Williams lead the cornerback group this spring. On the safety side, junior Kennedy Urlacher is the veteran presence with senior Christian Pierce recovering from shoulder surgery.
Fifth-year senior Jontez Williams, a cornerback transfer, started strong in 2025 but was sidelined by injury. He's currently out for spring, while third-year sophomore Chasen Johnson is on the mend from his own setbacks.
Second-year freshman Alex Graham is making waves. Initially pegged as the starting nickel before a preseason injury, he returned to play a significant role in the regular-season finale and the Alamo Bowl.
"We're moving in the right direction," Graham said, smiling. "The guys I expected to step up have done just that this spring."
Graham is part of a group bridging the gap between seasoned veterans and fresh faces. Third-year sophomore transfer Carrington Pierce, with limited Division I experience but a solid junior college background, joins cornerbacks RJ Sermons, Trestin Castro, and safety Kendarius Reddick from last year's class. Safeties Marquis Gallegos and Isaiah Rubin also add depth from the prior class.
A new defensive coordinator brings a fresh scheme, but for Brown, maintaining the team's culture remains paramount.
