JuJu Watkins Eyes 2026 March Madness Comeback After Heartbreaking ACL Injury

Despite JuJu Watkins' absence as she prioritizes recovery, USC's March Madness journey sees new leaders stepping up to face Clemson.

JuJu Watkins is undeniably one of the most electrifying talents in college basketball, and her presence was sorely missed as USC geared up for this year's NCAA Tournament. Last year, Watkins was a powerhouse, propelling the Trojans toward what looked like a promising Final Four run. Unfortunately, a torn ACL in the second round cut her season short, and USC's journey ended in the Elite Eight against the eventual champions, UConn.

Fast forward to today, and the Trojans are back in the tournament as a No. 9 seed. This time, it's Jazzy Davidson who’s been lighting up the court.

Davidson has been nothing short of sensational, leading the Trojans in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks. Her all-around performance has been pivotal in keeping USC competitive.

However, fans hoping to see Watkins make a triumphant return during March Madness will have to wait. Back in September, Watkins announced she would sit out the entire season to focus on her recovery.

USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb emphasized that Watkins’ health is the top priority, expressing full support for her decision. Gottlieb highlighted Watkins' continued role as a leader and teammate, underscoring her resilience and maturity throughout this challenging period.

With Watkins focused on her recovery, the Trojans are set to face No. 8 seed Clemson in their opening game of the tournament. While Watkins' on-court presence will be missed, her spirit and leadership continue to inspire her teammates as they embark on their March Madness journey.
