USC's Jazzy Davidson: A Freshman Phenom Making Waves
In the world of college basketball, few stories are as electrifying as that of USC freshman guard Jazzy Davidson. Named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the fourth consecutive time, Davidson is carving out a legacy that fans and analysts alike are watching with bated breath. Sharing this week's honor with Illinois' Cearah Parchment, Davidson's performance continues to dazzle.
Davidson's latest feats included a stellar two-game stretch, starting with a commanding 24-point game against Wisconsin. Her contributions were far from one-dimensional, as she also added five rebounds, six assists, four steals, and three blocks. Her playmaking was on full display, generating 13 points from her assists and showcasing her ability to influence the game on both ends of the court.
But it was her performance against No. 10 Ohio State that truly set the stage.
Davidson erupted for a career-high 32 points, hitting six of nine from beyond the arc and four of six from the charity stripe. Her six three-pointers were a personal best, and she matched her career high with 11 field goals.
Adding six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a block, she was responsible for 42 of USC's 88 points, including 10 from assists.
This 32-point explosion was not only the highest for a Trojan this season but also the most by a Big Ten freshman this year. It marked the first 30-point game by a USC player since Kiki Iriafen's performance against Mississippi State in March 2025 and the first by a Trojan freshman since JuJu Watkins' outing against UCLA in March 2024.
Davidson's consistency is remarkable, scoring in double figures for 24 consecutive games and hitting the 20-point mark in five straight contests. With 12 20-point games this season, she is setting the bar high.
Nationally, Davidson stands alone as the only Division I player leading her team in points (18.0), rebounds (6.2), assists (4.4), steals (2.0), and blocks (2.2). This stat line highlights her all-around prowess and leadership on the court.
As she secures her fourth weekly honor, Davidson continues to define excellence for freshmen in the Big Ten and across the nation. Her next challenge awaits as the Women of Troy head to Penn State for their final road game of the season, promising another opportunity for this rising star to shine.
