Another key date on UConn’s Big East calendar is now on the board.
CBS Sports College Basketball Insider Jon Rothstein reported Saturday that the Huskies will travel to Villanova on Feb. 14, 2027.
That means UConn’s visit to the Wildcats lands on both Valentine’s Day and Super Bowl Sunday, a pairing that could make for awkward numbers when it comes to television interest and attendance. That would not be ideal for the conference, but it doesn’t change the size of the game itself.
Villanova remains a major test, even without the national-title standard it once carried under Jay Wright. The Wildcats went 24-9 last season and finished 15-5 in league play. They also made the NCAA Tournament before falling to Utah State in the Round of 64, and their Big East Tournament run ended quickly with a loss to Georgetown in the opener.
This won’t be the first time these teams have seen each other recently, either. UConn beat Villanova 75-67 in overtime in Connecticut in the late January meeting last season, then won again in Philadelphia in late February, 73-63.
The Huskies finished second behind St. John’s in the regular season and were also the runner-up in the Big East Tournament.
From there, UConn earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and pushed all the way to the national title game before losing to Michigan.
Looking ahead, Dan Hurley’s group is still expected to be strong, but it will look different than the one fans saw a year ago. Alex Karaban and Tarris Reed Jr. are gone to the NBA, and Solo Ball is expected to miss the entire season because of injury.

Even so, there is no Champaign visit on his schedule, which leaves the staff to weigh how much more runway it has with top-tier prep guards versus leaning harder into the transfer portal or developing the players already on hand. The first home game of the season brought UConn back to earth in a hurry, as Maryland controlled the night from the opening stretches and left the Huskies searching for answers on both sides of the ball. The Terps passing game repeatedly found space against a UConn defense that had little margin for error, turning what had looked like a promising early-season setting into a lopsided 38-14 loss.
Maryland quarterback Malik Washington was the engine behind it all, carving up the secondary with a steady rhythm that never let UConn settle in. And while the defense was being stressed snap after snap, the Huskies offense never found much traction either after the explosiveness it showed in the opener, a reminder that this group still has work to do before it looks like a finished product.
