STORRS - For Tarris Reed Jr., the allure of UConn basketball was undeniable from the moment he experienced the electric atmosphere in Hartford. Amidst a sea of 60,000 fans celebrating the Huskies' back-to-back national titles, Reed found himself captivated by the program's winning culture.

Alex Karaban, a key figure on that championship team, noticed Reed amidst the festivities. Little did they know, their paths would soon intertwine at UConn. Reed's initial introduction to the coaches over dinner set the stage, but it was the parade that truly ignited his desire to be part of something special.

Reflecting on that moment, Reed shared, "Seeing the championship, the bus, the fans - it was different. It made me want to strive for that." Now, as a senior leader, Reed is determined to carve his own legacy with the Huskies.

His journey wasn't without its challenges. Returning to Connecticut for his junior year, Reed quickly realized the intensity and passion of Coach Dan Hurley.

"I wasn’t matching his energy," Reed admitted. "My junior year was tough, but I saw how much better I got.

I knew I had to come back for my senior year."

Reed's recent standout performance against No. 15 St.

John’s showcased his growth and potential. Coach Hurley emphasized Reed's pivotal role, stating the team's success hinges on his leadership.

As Reed prepares for his final game at Gampel Pavilion, escorted by his parents, he reflects on his journey with gratitude. "I questioned if I was supposed to be here, but now I’m filled with immense gratitude. We’re chasing glory," he expressed.

Karaban's Farewell

For Alex Karaban, the upcoming Senior Day marks a bittersweet farewell. Having already established himself as a program great, Karaban faces the reality of his last game at Gampel. "It’s exciting, but it’s also an important game for us," he noted, acknowledging the emotions that come with such a milestone.

Karaban's journey at UConn was fueled by a desire to make an impact, a dream he fulfilled beyond expectations. "I wanted to make an impact on a program like UConn. It’s been an honor and a privilege," he reflected.

New Faces, Shared Dreams

Malachi Smith and Dwayne Koroma joined UConn with a singular focus: winning. Smith, who transferred after a memorable encounter with the Huskies, embraced the challenge. "I wanted to win and have an impact, and that’s what I’m doing," he said.

Koroma, after years at mid-major programs, found the winning culture he craved at UConn. "It’s been everything I expected and more," he shared, grateful for the opportunity to contend for a championship.

Alec Millender, known for his leadership and energy, echoed similar sentiments. "It’s been everything I dreamed of," he said, embracing his role as a veteran presence on the team.
