UConn Pro Day Turns Heads With Standouts

UConn's Pro Day dazzles scouts as former Huskies make their mark with standout performances and impressive draft prospects.

UConn's Pro Day was a showcase of talent as former players put their skills on display for 27 NFL scouts. The Huskies, coming off consecutive nine-win seasons, had a diverse group of athletes vying for a shot at the pros. Let's break down some standout performances that could shape their futures in the NFL.

Skyler Bell, Wide Receiver

Skyler Bell stole the spotlight in Storrs with an electrifying performance. The wide receiver wowed scouts with an 11’1” broad jump, a 41” vertical leap, and a blazing 4.40-second 40-yard dash.

His agility was on full display with a 4.11-second shuttle and a 6.65-second 3-cone drill. Bell, a 2025 Biletnikoff Finalist, showed precision in his route-running and caught 15 of 16 passes during drills.

With the NFL draft approaching, he's projected to go in the late second or early third round. Teams like the New York Giants and New England Patriots are keeping a close eye on him.

The Giants, under new Head Coach John Harbaugh, might see Bell as a perfect fit alongside Malik Nabers after Wan’Dale Robinson's departure. Meanwhile, the Patriots are in need of a new target for quarterback Drake Maye after releasing Stefon Diggs.

Joe Fagnano, Quarterback

Joe Fagnano turned heads last season, leading UConn to the Wasabi Fenway Bowl with impressive stats: 3,448 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and just one interception. At the Pro Day, Fagnano's performance in positional drills was nothing short of stellar.

His precision and chemistry with Bell were evident, highlighted by a 50-yard touchdown pass. While he's projected to be a Day 3 pick, possibly in the sixth or seventh round, Fagnano’s showing might just boost his draft stock.

Christopher Freeman, Kicker

Christopher Freeman was a standout for UConn in 2025, making 88.5% of his field goals and setting a program record with 12 consecutive makes. At the Pro Day, he continued to impress, hitting 13 of 14 field goals, including a 65-yarder. His accuracy caught the attention of the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers, who met with him afterward.

Louis Hansen, Tight End

Louis Hansen put up solid numbers, showcasing his strength and speed. With 22 reps on the bench, a 9.7 broad jump, and a 31” vertical, Hansen demonstrated his athleticism.

His 4.88-second 40-yard dash and 6.99-second 3-cone drill highlighted his potential as a dynamic tight end. Hansen’s performance has certainly put him on the radar for the upcoming draft.

UConn's Pro Day was a testament to the program's growing talent pool, with several players making strong cases for their NFL futures. As the draft approaches, these athletes have positioned themselves as ones to watch.
