Dan Hurley has landed another big one.
NaVorro Bowman Jr., a five-star guard and the son of former NFL All-Pro linebacker NaVorro Bowman, committed to UConn on Thursday, giving the Huskies their first pledge in the 2027 class. Bowman is ranked No. 11 overall in the 2027 cycle by 247Sports and arrives as one of the top names in the country.
Bowman plays at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, and his recruitment had long been tied to Arizona and Texas. But after a visit to UConn last week, he made his decision and gave the Huskies the nod shortly after.
For Hurley and his staff, the commitment adds to a run of elite recruiting wins. Bowman is the fourth five-star prospect UConn has secured since 2023, joining Stephon Castle in 2023, Liam McNeeley in 2024 and Braylon Mullins in 2025.
247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein described Bowman as already "physical and functionally strong" and called him a "rapidly ascending guard who combines physicality, athleticism, playmaking, and shot-making."
Finkelstein also pointed to Bowman’s scoring profile, noting that he is "a bit of a volume scorer, who shot 42% from the floor on 17 attempts per game," but has the skill set to do much more. He added that Bowman is "talented with the ball and a true three-range threat," with the ability to handle pressure, change speeds, get to the rim and create offense off the dribble. He also wrote that Bowman’s passing is a strength when he uses it, though he is "still somewhat turnover prone at times (2.3 per game)."
There’s still work to do on the 2027 board for UConn, but the early returns are strong. The Huskies’ 2027 class sits No. 11 in the 247Sports team rankings with Bowman as the lone commitment so far. That follows a 2026 class that already includes two top-50 players, Colben Landrew and Junior County, and finished 19th in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.
