The Huskies are gearing up for an exciting home slate in Jason Candle's first year at the helm. Candle, who previously led Toledo, steps in to replace Jim Mora, who guided the Huskies to a commendable 9-4 record last year before moving on to Colorado State. With Candle's strong reputation preceding him, he's set to tackle the challenge of rebuilding the roster, especially following the graduation of star quarterback Joe Fagnano and standout receiver Skyler Bell, who is expected to be a high pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
As basketball and hockey seasons wind down, fans can start turning their attention back to the gridiron. If you're already feeling the football fever, Huskies season tickets are now available for purchase.
Upcoming Matchups:
Lafayette (Sept. 5)
The Leopards, not to be mistaken for Louisiana-Lafayette, play in the FCS and had a solid 2025 season, finishing 8-4 with a strong 6-1 conference record. Their losses came against FBS teams Bowling Green and Oregon State, as well as Princeton and Lehigh.
Maryland (Sept. 12)
It's a significant event to have a Big Ten team like Maryland visit Storrs, even though the Terrapins had a rough 2025, ending at 4-8 with a single conference win over Wisconsin. They showed fight in close games against Washington, Nebraska, UCLA, and Michigan State.
Syracuse (Oct. 3)
The Orange struggled to a 3-9 record last year but managed to edge out UConn in an overtime thriller. With quarterback Steve Angeli returning from injury, Fran Brown's squad is looking to bounce back in 2026.
UMass (Oct. 24)
The Minutemen had a tough 2025, going winless at 0-12. Despite close losses to Bryant and Buffalo, they were outmatched in most games.
Their FCS status makes them an interesting matchup for the Huskies.
James Madison (Nov. 14)
James Madison was one of the standout stories of 2025, going 12-2 and making it to the College Football Playoff before falling to Oregon. With a new coach at the helm, they remain one of the top small school programs and a formidable challenge for Candle's team.
Old Dominion (Nov. 21)
The Monarchs had an impressive 10-3 season, only losing to national champion Indiana in their opener. They claimed a notable victory over Virginia Tech and topped South Florida in a bowl game, making them a strong opponent.
