Skyler Bell Makes UConn History as Program’s First-Ever Consensus All-American
STORRS, CT - UConn football just added a milestone to its history books, and it comes courtesy of wide receiver Skyler Bell. The Bronx native has officially been named a Consensus All-American for the 2025 season - the first player in program history to earn that honor.
To put that into perspective, consensus status isn't handed out lightly. A player has to earn first-team recognition from at least three of the five NCAA-recognized All-America lists.
Bell checked that box in style, landing on the first team for the Associated Press (AP), the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), and The Sporting News. He also picked up second-team honors from the Walter Camp Football Foundation, rounding out a stellar postseason résumé.
And make no mistake - this wasn’t just a good season. It was a record-shattering one.
Bell hauled in 101 catches for 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns, setting new single-season school records for both receptions and receiving scores. He averaged 12.7 yards per catch and 106.5 receiving yards per game, numbers that didn’t just lead UConn - they put him near the top of the national leaderboard.
In fact, Bell ranked second in the country in receptions, yards, touchdowns, catches per game, and yards per game. He also led the nation with seven 100-yard receiving games this season.
That kind of production didn’t just rewrite UConn’s record books - it put Bell squarely in the national spotlight. He was a finalist for the 2025 Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the top wide receiver in college football. And while he didn’t take home the trophy, his name was firmly in the conversation all season long.
Over two years in Storrs, Bell put together a career that’s going to be remembered for a long time. In 25 games, he caught 151 passes for 2,138 yards and 18 touchdowns. That’s an average of 85.5 yards per game, which now stands as the best mark in UConn history.
Next up for Bell? A trip to the Panini Senior Bowl, where he’ll showcase his skills in front of NFL scouts and decision-makers ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. He becomes the 19th Husky to earn an invite to the prestigious all-star event - and based on what he’s already accomplished, he’ll arrive with plenty of buzz.
For a UConn program that’s still building its national profile, Bell’s breakout season is more than just a personal achievement - it’s a statement. The Huskies have a Consensus All-American. And now, the rest of the football world knows it.
