UConn has finished building its 2026-27 men’s basketball roster, and the last piece is Egor Amosov.
The 6-foot-7 Russian forward will arrive in Storrs as a freshman this summer, giving the Huskies a full 15-player group that includes 10 newcomers and five returners. Dan Hurley sees Amosov as more than just a final addition.
"Egor is an exciting young prospect who brings versatility at the forward spot," head coach Dan Hurley said. "His skillset fits what we look for in wing players and raises the level of that position group. We think that can compete to make an impact right away."
Amosov comes to Connecticut after spending the 2025-26 season with Real Madrid in Spain’s Liga U, the U22 league, where he helped the club win the first championship in the competition’s history. He was named Liga U Player of the Year after averaging 14.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.5 steals across 30 games.
Real Madrid finished 25-5 before beating Barca in the title game on May 17, and Amosov also logged one appearance with the senior team in LIGA ACB on Jan. 24, 2026.
Before his time in Spain, Amosov spent three years with BC Samara in his hometown of Samara, Russia. Across that stretch, he appeared 44 times for Samara 2 in the VTB Youth United League and 42 times for the senior team in the VTB United League.
His production climbed quickly. At age 14 in the 2022-23 season, he averaged 9.7 points in three games with Samara 2.
The following year, he started 31 games for Samara 2 and posted 13.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.8 steals in 26.3 minutes per game. He also made eight appearances with the senior club that season, including two starts.
In his final season in Russia, Amosov became a regular starter for Samara in the VTB United League and averaged 5.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 32 games and 23 starts. He added nine more appearances with Samara 2 in 2024-25, putting up 16.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.0 steals per game.

UConns 2026-27 Roster Is Set And One Huge Debate Just Grew
UConns 2026-27 roster finally has a shape to it, and the picture is as youthful as expected. The Huskies are bringing in 10 newcomers around five returners from last season, leaning hard into development after the NBA departures opened up major minutes. Silas Demary Jr. is back in the backcourt, Braylon Mullins returns as one of the offseasons bigger storylines, and the staff is clearly betting that this groups best basketball is still ahead of it.
The most interesting part now is how the pieces fit in the frontcourt, where UConn has to replace real production and experience without losing the edge that has defined recent teams. Najai Hines is expected to anchor the middle, while Nik Khamenia arrives with a chance to settle into a major role at the four. With sophomores projected to absorb a lot of the responsibility left behind, the roster is set, but the debate over how quickly this group can become a contender is just getting started. One Roster Flaw Could Decide UConns 2026-27 Title Chase
UConns path back to the national title game in 2026-27 is already taking shape around a familiar strength: guards and wings who can carry the offense and keep the Huskies in the hunt. Silas Demary Jr. and Braylon Mullins are expected to be the headliners, with more perimeter help around them, but the roster no longer looks like the kind of balanced group that has powered UConns best teams.
The real question hanging over the season is whether the Huskies can get enough production down low to match that backcourt talent. They brought in Stanford transfer Oskar Giltay and Arkansas transfer Elmir Dzafic to help stabilize the frontcourt, but both arrive with limited recent production, which leaves the interior as the clearest swing factor in whether UConns next title chase feels complete or a little short.
