UConn has finished building its 2026-27 men’s basketball roster, and the last piece is Egor Amosov.
The 6-foot-7 Russian forward will arrive in Storrs as a freshman this summer, giving the Huskies a full 15-player group that includes 10 newcomers and five returners. Dan Hurley sees Amosov as more than just a final addition.
"Egor is an exciting young prospect who brings versatility at the forward spot," head coach Dan Hurley said. "His skillset fits what we look for in wing players and raises the level of that position group. We think that can compete to make an impact right away."
Amosov comes to Connecticut after spending the 2025-26 season with Real Madrid in Spain’s Liga U, the U22 league, where he helped the club win the first championship in the competition’s history. He was named Liga U Player of the Year after averaging 14.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.5 steals across 30 games.
Real Madrid finished 25-5 before beating Barca in the title game on May 17, and Amosov also logged one appearance with the senior team in LIGA ACB on Jan. 24, 2026.
Before his time in Spain, Amosov spent three years with BC Samara in his hometown of Samara, Russia. Across that stretch, he appeared 44 times for Samara 2 in the VTB Youth United League and 42 times for the senior team in the VTB United League.
His production climbed quickly. At age 14 in the 2022-23 season, he averaged 9.7 points in three games with Samara 2.
The following year, he started 31 games for Samara 2 and posted 13.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.8 steals in 26.3 minutes per game. He also made eight appearances with the senior club that season, including two starts.
In his final season in Russia, Amosov became a regular starter for Samara in the VTB United League and averaged 5.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 32 games and 23 starts. He added nine more appearances with Samara 2 in 2024-25, putting up 16.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 3.0 steals per game.
