Dan Hurley Is Building A 2027 Class UConn Fans Can't Ignore

UConn men's basketball strengthens its 2027 class with the commitment of five-star recruit Jordan Page, a decision influenced by the program's championship pedigree and coach Dan Hurley's vision.

UConn added another big piece to its 2027 class on Sunday, landing five-star wing Jordan Page and giving Dan Hurley’s program a second elite recruit in the group.

Page, a 6-foot-5 native of Raleigh, North Carolina, made the call live on NBA TV after his IMG Academy team dropped a preseason thriller in overtime. Ranked No. 10 in the class by 247Sports, he made it official with a simple line: “I’ll be going to UConn with Dan Hurley,” Page said on the broadcast.

The Huskies beat out a strong push from Michael Malone and the in-state UNC Tar Heels, a school Page visited a week before his trip to Storrs. Page pointed to the program’s identity when explaining the decision.

“The culture,” was the reason he committed, Page said. “What (Hurley) said to me was, ‘hats and rings,’ you got lottery picks and the rings, they win championships.

So I would love to be in a winning culture for sure… It means the world to me. This is a dream.

Since I’ve been little I’ve been working for it every day and I’ve just got to keep working. This ain’t gonna be the stopping point.”

Page joins 6-foot-3 point guard NaVorro Bowman Jr. in UConn’s 2027 class. Bowman is ranked No. 11 by 247Sports, giving the Huskies a pair of high-end prospects and, according to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello, their first class with two ESPN five-stars in at least 20 years.

The two already have a connection on the biggest youth stage. Page and Bowman won a gold medal together with USA Basketball at the FIBA U17 World Cup this summer. Page put up 9.8 points per game in 16.0 minutes over six games, shot 69.7% from the field, went 1-for-4 from three, and finished the event with 10 rebounds, 13 assists and four steals.

247Sports scouting director Adam Finkelstein painted a detailed picture of what UConn is getting. He called Page “a physically gifted southpaw wing with a versatile two-way floor game,” and noted his size, length and strength.

“Page is a physically gifted southpaw wing with a versatile two-way floor game,” 247Sports’ Director of Scouting, Adam Finkelstein, wrote in his report. “At 6-foot-5 with a nearly 6-foot-11 wingspan, he’s long with sturdy shoulders and big hands, albeit a longer neck.

He’s a well-rounded athlete who moves and covers the court with real force, and can finish hard above the rim in transition. He’s a physical straight-line driver, able to elevate into mid-range pull-ups, not as far away from knocking down open threes as his most recent numbers indicate (22% 3pt and 72% FT in 3SSB play), a willing passer and ball-mover around the perimeter (2.9 assists vs.

2.2 turnovers), and excellent cutter off the ball.”

Finkelstein also described Page as a “natural connector” on offense and said he has a “chance to be elite” defensively because of his length and physicality.

Dan Hurley Just Drew A Hard Line In UConn Scheduling

Dan Hurley has made it clear that UConns non-conference planning is getting more selective, with the Huskies steering away from multi-team events and a certain kind of opponent profile as he shapes the schedule. Speaking at Big East Basketball Media Day, Hurley also voiced reservations about matching up with teams that feature players with G League experience, signaling a harder line in how UConn is choosing its early-season tests.

Even with that caution, the Huskies are hardly backing off from big-name competition. Their schedule already features marquee games against Michigan, Duke, Virginia, Kansas, Arizona, Ohio State and Illinois, which means UConn will still have plenty of spotlight matchups before league play begins. The larger question now is how much Hurley wants those games to reflect pure high-major power over the newer, more unpredictable mix college basketball has seen in recent years. [Read more 🡒]

Jim Mora Just Made A Drastic Move To Fix Colorado State's Defense

Colorado States defense took a sharp turn amid a rough afternoon against Oregon State, and the change came quickly enough to signal how urgent things had become. After a 56-26 loss, head coach Jim Mora said defensive coordinator Tyson Summers had been taken off play-calling duties during the game, a move that came after Summers had been retained on staff following his stint as interim head coach last season.

Moras postgame update made clear the situation had moved beyond a simple in-game adjustment, with Summers no longer part of the program after the loss. For a staff trying to stabilize a defense that just got overwhelmed, the decision leaves Colorado State with a major question to sort through as it looks ahead to what comes next. [Read more 🡒]

North Carolina Just Lost A Recruiting Battle Fans Were Watching

Jordan Pages commitment gives UConn another major early win on the 2027 trail, as the 6-foot-5 wing from IMG Academy joins a class that already has the kind of high-end talent that usually changes how the rest of the country views a recruiting cycle. Ranked No. 10 overall, Page brings the length and two-way versatility that fit neatly into Dan Hurleys system, where wings who can defend, move, and make winning plays tend to thrive.

For UConn, the bigger picture is just as important as the individual addition. Page is the latest sign that the Huskies are selling more than just recent success, because top recruits are continuing to buy into the programs team-first style and player development. The only thing left to sort out is how high this 2027 group can climb if UConn keeps stacking names like this. [Read more 🡒]
