Brazile Erupts for Career Night as Arkansas Dominates in Blowout Win

Powered by a breakout performance from Trevon Brazile, No. 14 Arkansas delivered a dominant offensive display that sets the tone for a crucial upcoming matchup.

Trevon Brazile Shines as No. 14 Arkansas Cruises Past Queens

In a game that never felt in doubt, No. 14 Arkansas put on a clinic Tuesday night, steamrolling Queens 108-80 behind a career-best performance from Trevon Brazile. The junior forward was locked in from the opening tip, pouring in 26 points on an ultra-efficient 9-of-11 shooting night, including a scorching 5-of-7 from beyond the arc.

Arkansas jumped out early and never looked back, building a 24-point lead by halftime on the strength of 60% shooting from the field. Brazile was the tone-setter, notching 18 of his 26 before the break and showcasing the kind of offensive versatility that has NBA scouts keeping close tabs. Whether it was knocking down threes, finishing in transition, or making plays off the dribble, Brazile was simply unstoppable.

But he wasn’t the only Razorback making noise. Darius Acuff Jr. continued to look like one of the most composed freshmen in the country, finishing with 23 points and 10 assists.

He had 16 in the first half alone, orchestrating the offense with poise and pushing the tempo with purpose. His vision and pace were instrumental in Arkansas racking up a 32-14 advantage in fast-break points - a stat that tells the story of how the Hogs dictated the flow from start to finish.

Arkansas was lethal from deep, going 14-of-28 as a team, while Queens struggled to keep up, managing just 6-of-25 from long range. The Razorbacks’ perimeter defense deserves credit for that disparity, as they made life difficult for the Royals’ shooters all night.

Queens came into the game leaning on Chris Ashby, the Atlantic Sun preseason player of the year, but Arkansas locked him down. Ashby, who had been averaging 13 points per game, was held to just two points on 1-of-9 shooting, including an 0-for-7 mark from three. The Razorbacks’ defensive game plan was clear - take away the Royals’ top option - and they executed it to perfection.

Nasir Mann led Queens with 16 points, but the Royals were simply overwhelmed by Arkansas’ depth and athleticism.

In total, six Razorbacks scored in double figures. Alongside Brazile and Acuff, Billy Richmond III brought energy off the bench with 15 points, Nick Pringle added 14, Karter Knox chipped in 11, and D.J.

Wagner rounded things out with 10. It was a full-team effort, the kind of balanced scoring that makes Arkansas a matchup nightmare when they’re clicking.

Now sitting at 9-2, Arkansas turns its attention to a marquee showdown with No. 8 Houston on Saturday in New Jersey - a true measuring stick game that should offer a clearer look at just how dangerous this Razorbacks team can be.

As for Queens, they’ll stay in SEC territory for their next test, heading to Auburn on Monday in what promises to be another uphill battle.
