Greenfield, Indiana is buzzing with excitement after local hero Braylon Mullins stunned the basketball world with his game-winning shot for UConn in the Elite Eight. Now, as Mullins and his team prepare to compete in the NCAA Final Four at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium, just a short drive away, his hometown is celebrating in style.
In a heartfelt tribute, Greenfield has renamed two streets in Mullins' honor. Depot Street is now Braylon Avenue, and W 5th Street has become Mullins Drive. Braylon’s father, Josh Mullins, shared photos of the new street signs on social media, capturing the pride and emotion of the moment with a simple post filled with tearful emojis.
Even the local bakery joined in the celebration, posting: “Exciting things are happening this morning! You can now find us at the corner of Pennsylvania and Braylon Ave!”
It’s clear that Mullins' family had some influential support in making this happen, as the mayor of Greenfield is his grandfather’s brother.
The small town of Greenfield, with a population of around 25,000, has become a focal point for journalists from across the country. Mullins’ remarkable 35-foot 3-pointer with just 0.4 seconds left on the clock not only secured UConn’s spot in the Final Four but also brought national attention to his hometown, conveniently located just 37 minutes from the tournament’s venue.
As Mullins returns home, Greenfield is rolling out the red carpet for the 2025 IndyStar Indiana Mr. Basketball and McDonald’s All-American, celebrating a moment that has put their city on the map.
