Alex Karaban Finally Looked Like Himself In Summer League

After three lackluster performances, Alex Karaban finally shines in the NBA Summer League with a standout 21-point effort against the Celtics, showcasing his adaptability and newfound confidence.

Alex Karaban finally had the kind of night that looked a lot closer to the player UConn fans know.

After opening his NBA Summer League run with scoring lines of zero, three and four points, Karaban broke through Wednesday night for the Sacramento Kings. The former Huskies standout led the team with 21 points and added eight rebounds in an 82-76 loss to the Boston Celtics.

Karaban needed just 26 minutes to put together the best performance of his summer, shooting 7-for-15 overall and drilling five of seven from beyond the arc. The 3-point shot was the difference-maker, and it gave him a chance to show the kind of offensive rhythm that had been missing through his first three games.

“It felt great. I knew I had to step up some more with a couple of our key pieces out tonight, but I’ve been getting more comfortable game to game now and I feel extremely comfortable out there now,” Karaban told reporters after the game.

He also pointed to the adjustment that comes with making the jump from college to this level.

“I’ve got to let it fly, and that’s something the coaches have been telling me too. I think it’s been an adjustment for me too, just with the pace of the game, the athleticism.

It’s a different game compared to college. It took some time to get used to it, but I’m more comfortable with it now.”

The Kings still have one more guaranteed game in Summer League. They’ll face former UConn star Liam McNeeley and the Hornets in the consolation bracket opener on Friday at 6:30 p.m. on Prime Video.

UConn Football Fans Finally Get Their First 2026 Ticket Decision

UConn football fans finally have a date to circle for 2026, with single-game tickets set to go on sale later this month. Husky Athletic Fund members get the first shot, followed by the general public a day later, as the program starts opening up access to a seven-game home slate that already has some attention-grabbing matchups on it.

North Carolina, Syracuse and Maryland are among the biggest draws on the schedule, and UConn is also still pushing season tickets and mini plans for fans who want to lock in their seats sooner. The mini-plan option is especially appealing for anyone trying to build around the marquee games, giving the Huskies another way to keep interest high before the full single-game rush begins. Was UConn's Biggest Shot Enough For The National Spotlight

For a UConn moment that briefly felt like it might break through to the national stage, the spotlight instead went elsewhere. The ESPY for Play of the Year went to a tip-in from the NBA Finals, a finish that helped swing a championship series and ultimately stood above a field that included UConn freshman Braylon Mullins, whose late 3-pointer against Duke had already put him in rare company.

Mullins shot was the kind of March memory that lingers because of the timing as much as the difficulty, with UConn having battled back from a big deficit and then needing one more big play in the closing seconds. It was enough to make the Huskies part of the conversation on a national awards stage, even if the final vote left the program still waiting for the kind of signature moment that turns a stunning basket into an award-winning one.
