Dailey Jr. Lights Up the Court as UCLA Triumphs Over UCF
In a thrilling opening round of the NCAA Tournament, Eric Dailey Jr. stepped up as UCLA's standout player, leading the charge against UCF with an impressive 20-point performance. With 12 of those points coming in the first half, Dailey Jr. provided the spark the Bruins desperately needed, especially with star forward Tyler Bilodeau sidelined.
Dailey Jr. has consistently been a catalyst for UCLA, energizing his team whenever they needed a boost. Now in his second season with the Bruins, the junior forward has grown into a leadership role, thanks to the rapport he's built with his teammates.

Dailey Jr.'s leadership extends beyond the court through his close relationship with sophomore guard Trent Perry. The two have developed a brotherly bond since joining UCLA, with Dailey Jr. providing guidance during tough times, such as Perry's struggles following a disappointing game against Minnesota.
Perry faced harsh criticism after that loss, and Dailey Jr. was there to support him. “Even though you’re not supposed to look at the comments, it’s there. I’m just fortunate to have these guys to have my back,” Perry shared.
Rage Bait with Love
Dailey Jr. also employs a bit of playful "rage bait" to keep the locker room atmosphere light and help his teammates build resilience against criticism. This camaraderie, especially with Perry, strengthens the team's mental toughness.
“He’s just like my little brother,” Dailey Jr. said of Perry. “It’s love always.
He’s definitely more well-rounded now and can control his emotions better. He’s having a great season, so I guess my methods are working.”

Head coach Mick Cronin appreciates Dailey Jr.'s leadership, not just for his vocal presence but for his work ethic. Dailey Jr.'s dedication in practice sets a high standard for the team.
“Eric shows up every day ready to give 100%,” Cronin praised. “It’s good to have guys like that because it brings others along. It’s a vastly underrated skill.”
As Dailey Jr. looks ahead to his senior year, his leadership and intensity will be even more crucial for the Bruins. “Whatever I can do for the team, that’s what I’m gonna do,” Dailey Jr. affirmed. “I’m here to ensure we’re playing at high intensity and at a high level.”
