Barnes’ performance was historic, as he became the first player in Raptors history to notch 15 or more assists in under 30 minutes, according to Omer Osman of Raptors Updates.
While Barnes may not always grab headlines for scoring, his all-around contributions are invaluable. The Raptors have wisely chosen to build around him, recognizing his knack for doing the little things that lead to victories and filling in whatever the team needs.
Currently, the Raptors are sitting comfortably in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 42-32 record, maintaining a slim lead over the seventh-placed Philadelphia 76ers with eight games left in the season.
Securing that fifth seed is within reach, but challenging matchups against the top-tier Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, and New York Knicks lie ahead. Even the struggling Miami Heat could pose a threat. However, games against the Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, and Brooklyn Nets should offer the Raptors a chance to solidify their position.
