Raptors Forward Stuns Fans With Frequent Moves Between Teams

Jamison Battle seeks more game time with Raptors 905, aiming to refine his sharpshooting skills and solidify his role with the Raptors.

Jonathan Mogbo has been a familiar face on the Toronto Raptors' transaction wire, frequently moving between the main roster and Raptors 905. This season, he's been a constant presence on the shuttle between Toronto and Mississauga.

But the recent assignment of Jamison Battle to the Raptors 905 is a new development. For the first time in the 2025-26 season, Battle joined Mogbo in being sent down to the affiliate team.

Battle's limited playing time in the Raptors’ recent game against the Bulls-just under four minutes-suggests this move is about keeping him game-ready. With Toronto's next game against the Bucks not until Sunday, the organization seems keen on giving Battle some live-action reps. Before the All-Star break, Battle averaged only five minutes across five games, with two games where he didn't play at all.

During his rookie season, Battle made a name for himself as a sharpshooter, finishing second among rookies with a 40.5 percent clip from beyond the arc. His career three-point shooting now stands at 40.7 percent, bolstered by an impressive 45.7 percent in the G League last season and a scorching 58.6 percent during Summer League and preseason. These performances earned him a two-way spot after going undrafted.

Brandon Ingram recently praised Battle as the best shooter on the team, a sentiment he shared with Sportsnet’s Blake Murphy following the Bulls game. Battle's shooting prowess is undeniable.

However, Ja’Kobe Walter seems to have the edge for wing minutes off the bench, a fact underscored by his strong performance against the Bulls. This situation leaves Battle in a specialist role, as highlighted by coach Darko Rajaković.

Our own Louis Zatzman delved into Battle's impact, noting his impressive on-off numbers. Despite limited minutes, Battle leads the Raptors in various efficiency differentials, both offensively and defensively.

The team is an astounding 27.2 points per 100 possessions better with him on the court, a figure that not only tops the Raptors but leads the entire league. This statistical impact underscores Battle's potential value, even as he navigates his role within the team.
