Kyle Lowry is set to get one more Toronto celebration, and this one will happen in the place Raptors fans made famous.
The team is bringing fans to Maple Leaf Square on Saturday, Sept. 19 for Kyle’s Block Party, a free daytime event in the heart of Jurassic Park that will honor Lowry’s career with the Raptors. The party, presented by Tangerine, is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. ET and is being billed as a tribute to the bond Lowry formed with the fan base over his nine seasons in Toronto.
The event is built to feel like a true fan gathering. The Raptors say there will be merchandise pop-ups, giveaways, apparel customization and a photo booth, along with special guest appearances - and, naturally, Lowry himself.
Fans who want to attend can try for free tickets through the Fan Access platform on the Raptors App, with entries opening Friday, Sept. 4 at noon ET.
For Toronto, Jurassic Park is the obvious backdrop. It was the gathering spot for thousands of fans during the 2018-19 season, when the No. 7-led Raptors captured the first NBA championship in franchise history.
Lowry’s place in team history is already locked in. He is an NBA champion, a six-time All-Star and an All-NBA selection, and he holds the franchise marks for assists, steals, threes and wins. He also ranks second in franchise history in points and fourth in rebounds.
"Jurassic Park became special because our fans made it special, and our players felt that connection every night," said Raptors GM Bobby Webster.
"Kyle and his teammates knew that while they were playing inside, thousands of people were right outside those doors cheering them on, so it only feels right to come back to the place they created and throw a party with No. 7."
Lowry will also be signing a ceremonial one-day contract to officially retire as a Toronto Raptor.
Kyle’s Block Party is one of several events planned ahead of Lowry’s jersey retirement ceremony on Jan. 10, 2027. That night, his No. 7 will go to the rafters at Scotiabank Arena when the Raptors face his hometown team, the Philadelphia 76ers.
