Scherzer’s offseason journey was a waiting game, officially rejoining the Blue Jays’ roster on March 3 for the 2026 season. “There were a couple of teams that I could have signed with, but Toronto was always in my heart,” Scherzer shared.
“I’ve been through free agency enough to know how unpredictable it can be. I knew if Toronto was the destination, it might take time.
Thankfully, everything aligned, and here I am.”
What makes Toronto stand out for Scherzer? It’s more than just baseball; it’s about the community and lifestyle.
“The team, coaches, and staff - it was all a perfect fit,” he explained. “Living downtown made it easy for my family.
Toronto’s a fantastic place, both on and off the field. We nearly clinched the World Series last year, and I’m eager to chase that title again with this team.”
