Phillies Stun Fans with Unusual Broadcast Choice for Spring Game

Phillies fans were left puzzled as the team's spring game aired with Blue Jays announcers instead of the familiar NBC Sports Philadelphia voices.

Spring Training is in full swing, and Phillies fans tuned in on Saturday, expecting to hear the familiar voices of Tom McCarthy and John Kruk calling the game. Instead, they found themselves listening to the Blue Jays' broadcast team.

Why the switch? It's simple: the Phillies were on the road, and the host team's feed was used for the broadcast.

Tom McCarthy cleared things up on social media, explaining that road games often mean using the home team's coverage. So, while it might not have been the usual Philly flair, fans still got to enjoy the game.

This matchup marked the Spring Training debut for both the Phillies and the Blue Jays. It was a chance for Phillies fans to catch a glimpse of centerfield prospect Justin Crawford, who impressed with a deep double in his first at-bat. While many of Philadelphia's regulars sat out, former Braves pitcher Bryse Wilson took the mound, offering a preview of what he might bring to the team.

On the other side, the Blue Jays fielded nearly their entire starting lineup, with Eric Lauer handling pitching duties, though George Springer was notably absent.

For Phillies fans, having a broadcast at all is a win, especially considering that the Angels aren't airing any of their Spring Training games this year. So, while it might not have been the usual broadcast crew, it was still a welcome opportunity to see the Phillies in action.
