Kevin Gausman might be 35, but he's not ready to hang up his cleats just yet. As he contemplates the future, the veteran right-hander remains committed to his journey with the Toronto Blue Jays.
While whispers of retirement circulate, Gausman knows Toronto faces a decision soon. Yet, he's clear about his intentions.
"We haven’t really crossed that bridge yet," Gausman shared on ‘Foul Territory.’ "But, yeah, I would love to continue playing for the Blue Jays.
I love this organization. I love this city."
His connection to Toronto runs deep. From witnessing the growth of manager John Schneider to watching his own kids grow up in the city, Gausman has plenty of reasons to stay. "There are a lot of things to like when you are looking from the outside in," he added.
In the fiercely competitive AL East, Gausman remains a valuable asset. With a solid 3.59 ERA last season, his performance speaks volumes. As a free agent at the end of the campaign, the prospect of re-signing him on a favorable deal seems like a no-brainer.
For now, both Gausman and the Blue Jays have their sights set on winning this year. And that's the focus that truly counts.
